O student of knowledge,
Wake up, don't sleep!,
For indeed time passes and slips by,
So be stingy with it (time) for as long as you live,
For being stingy with time is the essence of generosity,
Cling to your studies and be happy with it,
You Will be a leader for the nations tommorow,
Hasten to (strive) during your youth,
Before the sword of old age cuts off your determination,
And avoid mixing (with others) unnecessarily as much as you can,
And excessive eating, sleeping and blameworthy speech,
And befriend a noble one and do not be excessive,
For how many excessive ones O my young brother have been deprived,
And accomplish if you aim to do something-and do not,
Fill your mind with an inflated fantasy,
I have seen knowledge and its people,
Being respected by all those with sound disposition,
So if you really want high status O my companion,
In this world and the next, then resort to the pen,
And be sincere to your Lord and act upon what,
You learnt, even if you are faced with pain,
Be patient, persevere and do not be lazy,
For indeed intentions are in accordance with their determination.
