The lastest episode of the Wilderkids has just gone live.

On this episode Imogen chats with fellow Twig.fm podcaster, Tash from My Home Planet Podcast.

They start off reviewing a children's film and a book with
very important environmental messages for kids (and adults!) and then go on to talk about Gen Z and where we're all heading.

The conclusion is that we all need to start taking better care of our mother 👉🌎

Environmental podcast about Generation Z and their demands for businesses to be more transparent and sustainable and how ultimately that should give us all hope that we can halt this destructive path that we're on.

One 1/4 of all species are now threatened with extinction! 😢

The good news is that this can be halted. But it will take "transformative change" in every aspect of how humans interact with nature.

A compelling UN assessment shows the full picture of humanity's devastating impact on biodiversity and nature.

Twig FM's Imogen Taylor's latest podcast interview with wildlife photographer Suzi Eszterhas....

Suzi talks about her long and successful career, the struggles she’s faced in a male dominated profession, her experience with poachers when out in the field and why she has sympathy for them, why she supports small grass root organisations over larger ones due to the suspicions she has about how much funding they actually put to conservation efforts, the importance of forest bathing and how the jungle is a bootcamp for the heart and soul.

Wildlife photographer Suzi Eszterhas - fostering empathy in young children might just be what we need to save our planet’s wildlife, forest bathing cures all, jungles are bootbcamps for the soul.

When the authorities refused to tackle the mounting rubbish problem in her home town, this 81 year old woman took it upon herself to fix the problem.

Have you met the Akashinga - the armed female anti-poaching unit in Zimbabwe?

Historically the park would have to recruit rangers from around the country so they wouldn't be influenced by the people they grew up with in the local community but women just don't seem to be corruptible in that way.

Increasingly forced to bear the brunt of more extreme weather and environmental degradation, these women are gaining the tools and the support to act on it. The same is happening globally, as environmental justice increasingly intersects with women’s rights.

They're challenging political and social barriers.

Women often bear the brunt of climate change's impact. In Guatemala, they also have become some of the country's most visible environmental activists.

Save the bees 🐝 ❤️

A new era begins for European Union farmers where the needs of the environment are seen as more important than production.

Across Europe farms will have to farm with nature and not against it. 🙌🏻

Member states vote in favour of an almost complete ban on the use of chemicals linked to harming bees.

The single-use plastic bag tax in the UK has already resulted in a 90% reduction in their use.

The ban on single-use plastics that will come into force next year has already seen McDonald's phasing out the use of plastic straws in their UK stores.

If we put pressure on our governments to make the right decisions we can affect real change.

The UK is set to ban all sales of single-use plastics, including plastic straws and Q-tips from the country as early as next year.

26/04/2018

We hear a lot of doom and gloom reports about plastic pollution and they are saddening to hear but it is important that we do hear those reports because when we do we are galvanised into action and when we act this can happen......
