James Earl Jones's passing was more of a milestone than I first realized. The more I thought about it, saw social post after post and then unearthed my thoughts about a man I had not spent really that much time thinking about when he was alive, the more I realized what a profound loss this was for my generation.

He was *the* main voice of my life, of our lives, an instantly recognizable quake that meant authority. And I can barely think of anyone else who might come closer and in so many ways. Godspeed, sir.

Here's my favorite clip of him that I have seen so far (and there are quite a few). And this one seems so appropriate today, this year, and right now.

I don’t think I ever officially met Jim Scott. Saw him in person a few times from afar. But what I do know about him is that I would call him as a teenager in the morning and ask him to help me promote the community garage sale that I and my merry band of teenage leaders group buddies were putting on to raise money for the teen group at the YMCA. Not only was he not annoyed or even seemed slightly annoyed, he was gracious, told me when he was going to talk about it and he did it every time. Because of that, I felt like we were friends and I was a loyal Jim Scott supporter.

Godspeed, Jim Scott. Thanks for everything - for me, for our town, for radio and most of all for celebrating the common good in every person and every community.

BREAKING NEWS: Loveland High School will have a new principal next year.

Current Turpin High School principal David Spencer has accepted the job as Loveland's new principal, pending school board approval at Tuesday's meeting.

Adam Reed, currently Loveland's principal, took the job in March 2021 and began with the '21-'22 school year. No word on Reed's future - or whether he will remain with the district.

Spencer has been with Forest Hills School District, where Turpin is located, for 19 years. He was first the assistant principal at Turpin, according to Cincinnati.com, who first reported it.

Loveland Superintendent Mike Broadwater was the assistant superintendent in Forest Hills before coming to Loveland in August 2021.
