I so can not wait fir them to be available 🥲

Have you guys checked out or episode on orchids?
Even though this flower looks like it would be pollinated by moths or Beatles, the only recorded visitors were hoverflies 😊

Another informative fact we have not mentioned yet:
It only flowers once it reaches the adult stage. This can be anywhere from five to ten years.

A moist, well-drained, alkaline soil is preferred.

Use a nitrogen fertilizer sparing to encourage flowering.

It is important to protect a flowering plant from an early frost. A frost can damage the next year's flowers.

Give then a prune after the flowering season is over. Pruning not only helps to promote more flower growth, but it helps to keep the plant to a manageable size.

Further plants can be propagated from softwood or hardwood cuttings, by layering in spring or autumn, or though grafting.

Spring is in town and White Wisteria is in full bloom!!! 🌸
Don’t miss out. You’ll find this beauty at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens!
Smells absolutely fantastic 😍

Fun fact:
Did you know that wisteria is used for fabric production in Japan?
The Japanese call it fuji and it has been highly valued for centuries. In fact, the oldest fabric in Japan was made using wisteria fibers and is still produced today.
This fabric, known as Fuji-fu or wisteria cloth, was even designated a tangible cultural property in 1991.
Wearing wisteria fiber is believed to bring good luck, kindness, and longevity due to the plant's long vines. Additionally, the beautiful blooms of wisteria are associated with romantic connotations.

Halloween is around the corner and we have recorded an extra episode for you guys!

The wine for our Spooky Podcast was Satyr By Sileni “Kereru” Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2022.

On the nose: light apricots, fig, lemon peel 🍋 and nougat characters with a hint of oatmeal.

The palate: medium fruit flavours and bright acidity with a lingering finish.

Would i have it again? Maybe 🤔
