This is an old R&B song that was very popular with young African American men like me back in the 1970s. We love this guy. Sometimes, we'd listen to it while smoking a nice joint of that good redbud that I used to sell a little of and almost be brought to tears.

We started this little program to help keep R&B and soft jazz music alive for some old-school people like me who couldn't get into hip-hop music like the younger generations did.

We had to have a name for our music program., we had the idea of playing this music for maybe two or three hours on Sunday afternoons and evenings and thought Soulful Sundays would be the name to tell everyone what we were doing and when, but eventually settled on cultural "Expressions" is a single word and .. We are always open for improvement if any of you have suggestions.

I used to like this kind of music in my early to mid-twenties. I loved it when on Saturdays, I would take my girl and go down to my dad's home, down where I grew up down in southeast AR, where on our side of town, the streets were still dirt roads, but some had gravel, and one or two of them had blacktop covering them.
However, frogs, mosquitoes, and Johnsongrass were still growing in the ditches. The Juke joints were still there, but I don't think the owners had heard of maintenance and upkeep; they would never put it to practice very much if they did, but they did keep those little old places clean, though...

It was still an enjoyable time to sit in a cool place and order some good fresh hot, fried white river buffalo fish served with mustard and hot sauce, pickles, and onion slices, with a quart of ice-cold beer. At the same time, you listen to music like this playing on the jukebox. I used to buy my w**d by the pound. I'd get that good Mexican w**d, and sometimes I'd get a little brick of redbud. A few of my friends and I would always have some good smoke when the girls wanted to come over in the evening as we sat out back in the cool summer days under the big pecan trees, or we'd play some pool at which I'd always win a lot more than I'd lose.

Don't you just like to sit on some Sunday afternoons like this one and listen to the good music that you used to enjoy so much just what seems like only a few years ago, but it was really thirty years and more ago. I've heard one or two of them that I know was fifty years ago when I was working at the power company back in 1972, when Gladys Knight was taking 'That Midnight Train To Georgia'!
Another one was even more years back than that one. It's just some very good souk I can relate to the temptations with their hit back in the late 60's with 'Just My Imagination' and everybody remembers Curtis Mayfield and 'Superfly' Hahaha!! and so many others you can enjoy listening to on Soulful Sunday's like these when we take "The Love Train" So tell all the folks in England, Russa and China too, to get ready to take The Love Train!!! here on Cultural Expressions, Cultural Awareness.

These are some live oldies by the original artist that you can listen to when you'll be thinking of where you were and what you were doing when you used to hear this song back in the '70s 80's or 90s. The days and years that seem so much like yesterday now... just a short time ago when you were calling your girlfriends and talking about where you were going out tonight.

To Me, the thing is that Willie Mays ran a little over 40 yards in less than 5 seconds, caught the ball, turned and fired it in a little over 1 second, and held the runner on 2nd, which kept him from scoring and ended up being exceptionally significant to the game being won by his team that day. What do you think?

I don't remember the game because I was only about three or four years old, and we didn't have a TV or even electricity at the time.
But I have seen that catch many times on TV over the years since. It gave me a healthy admiration for Willie Mays as a baseball player and several other African American BaseBall players that have lasted through the years to today!

I use to think this type of entertainment was the greatest thing I had ever seen. We didn’t have electricity until I was 5-five years old and we only had a radio until I was 14 years old. So between the ages of 5-five and 14-fourteen I only saw Tv or movies very sparingly. In fact I can remember only seeing about 3-three movies doing those 9-nine years.

My little brother Ed and I would have to go to one of the the two neighbors house who had a tv and they were not always positive or receptive to our knocking on their door one or twice a week and asking if we could watch Rifleman, Sugar-foot or Batt Masterson, a 30 minute tv show t came on once a week.

Ms Giles would show her disgust with our asking and would shoshow her resentment by making sure we understood that we could watch only one 30 minute show and then she would put the chanel on 5 or 6 if the show came on channel 7, so we’d have to sit tthere and watch snow and beebees for 30 and get up and go back home accross the road feeling hurt and disappointed. And wait until next week.

I had never had any real s*x at the age of fourteen so for me watching a movie like this was the best experience I had ever had, even better than eating sometimes with what we had to eat for supper. I used it for a culture education and English and speaking skills school, because I had never had any interactions with White folks so that gave me something better than nothing about there values, principles and general mental attitude doing parts of the 19 and 20th century.

Nicely filmed out of Big Bear Valley, San Bernardino National Forest, it's an unassuming film that follows familiar B Western plotting. Bad guy has reform in...
