We are excited to announce that “Beethoven’s Letters” won the Award for Best Drama Short at the Cittador International Film Festival 2023!

The jury said:
“The subject of art and the price the artist pays for it is skillfully brought to the point by intense and considered direction. The film impressed with its cinematic sensibility: the editing follows a fast rhythm appropriate to the subject and the images function as a clear subtext.”

It is so fitting that we were awarded in Vienna, where Beethoven lived most of his life. Congrats to all: our co-producer, Mônica J Ledoux, our lead actors Greg Nutcher and Ann Kelly, as well as the entire crew, including Lynn Weissman, Neely Coe, and Greg Jo Bok.

We are thrilled to announce that “Dream,” our latest feature film, will have its world premiere at HIFF in Monaco December 14-18! Thank you to the amazing festival Director Fadi EL Lawand and Programming Director Sherif Awad-Film Critic-Egypt.

Thanks to our wonderful cast and crew, including our lead actors, Katherine Kern and Steven Kaldeck, whose personal story of loss inspired us to make this film. Please share this wonderful news!

Raouf Zaki is grateful to be the only Boston University alumnus to win the Sumner Redstone Award Best Film Award TWICE, according to Chairman Paul Schneider. In 2020 for Santa Claus in Baghdad and in 2018 for Fireflies! Thanks to the hard-working cast and crew on both films and grateful to be alive and accept the award via Zoom. It is an emotional, powerful film without dialog. Instead of words, it relies on the actors' body language and facial expressions to portray its message.

We produced this documentary that chronicles the lives and struggles of orphans in Egypt, and their successes through Coptic Orphans.

Coptic Orphans is an award-winning international Christian development organization that has touched the lives of over 30,000 children in Egypt since 1988.

Congrats to our cast and crew for wrapping on our latest film. Check out these on-screen and behind-the-scenes shots from our new short film/pilot hybrid written and directed by Raouf Zaki, The Mourner's Wife.

It is a black comedy about a professional mourner who meets an unemployed recent immigrant from India at a funeral and together embark on establishing a professional mourning business.

A special thanks goes out to all the hardworking people who gave from their hearts and souls to make this film happen. We had an amazing cast, which included the talents of Sheetal Kelkar, Paul Taft, Sarah Elizabeth Mitchell, Kristina Horan, Danielle Gensler, Tom Kilgallen, Nancy Zinnia Politzer, and Cory Scott.

We also want to thank all of the crew, including assistant director Travis Starr, director of photography Christo Bakalov, first AC Vasco Sá, technical supervisor Steven Kaldeck, production designer Lisa Boutillier, art director Ginnene Branch, costume designer Grace McDade Babikian, makeup artist Lori Grenier, grips Jimmy Martin and Yvonne Corbett, and production assistants Joe Boutillier, Yuxuan Pang, and Christian Buday, all of whom have such incredible talent and dedication.

Raouf is really humbled to be traveling and filming stories of Orphans in Upper Egypt. This is our third film for Coptic Orphans and it is truly inspirational to film success stories despite extreme poverty and lack of resources. Our last film was used to raise funds to support more than 200 Orphans in Egypt. We're looking forward to the premiere of this new film at their 30th anniversary gala in NYC, D.C. and L.A this October!

We are honored to announce that Fireflies has been selected as the winner of the Redstones 2018 Best Alumni Short contest from Boston University! Congrats to the amazing team!

Please join us at The Directors Guild of America, Theater 2, in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 12th. Tickets are available for $10. The doors will open at 6:30 PM, and the event will begin at 7:00 PM. A panel discussion on the future of film, with surprise guests, will follow after the screening of the night's top films.

The director of FIREFLIES, Raouf Zaki, will be present at the event along with co-producer Hana Ayad Zaki, lead actor Essam Ferris, and lead actress Nour M Bitar. Special thanks goes out to the incredible cast and crew behind this film, Boston University Film and Television Department , and Boston University in Los Angeles for this wonderful award.
