Secondary Education Minister Dr. Nalova Lyonga has denied ever authorising the Senior Divisional Officer for Ngoketundjia Division to suspend teachers' salaries.

Mr. Henderson Quetong is believed to have taken the decision upon himself in February 2021 to suspend salaries of teachers who did not show up to schools despite the insecurity in the North West Region.

The Minister of Secondary Education has reassured affected teachers that an investigation will be opened to shed more light on the affair.

A coalition of Human Rights defenders in Cameroon has called out the Confederation of African Football, (CAF) for "nicodemously" shifting responsibility for the Olembe stadium stampede to the local organizing committee, COCAN.

They have in a pre-action/litigation notice, threatened to take legal action if the CAF fails to take charge for the deaths recorded in the stampeded.

The boy in the image below has died after allegedly getting hit in the head by his friend in Ndogpassi 3, Douala.

The scuffle was caused by an argument they both got into during a football game.

It is still unclear what they both disagreed about that caused the fight between the boys.

According to Nigerian sources, Augustine Eguaveon, the Head Coach of the Super Eagles has stepped down from his role as Head coach.

His resignation follows Nigeria's shock elimination from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Nigeria had qualified for the Knockout rounds of the tournament with a 100% win record. The following the eliminations Algeria and Ghana in the group stage, Nigeria was seen by many as one of the top favourites to take the cup in in Cameroon.

According to a decision from the President of the Confederation of African Football Dr. Patrice Motsepe, Cameroon's next game against Gambia which was supposed to be at the Olembe Football Stadium has been moved to the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.

This decision comes a day after the Stampede at the Olembe Football Stadium that has so far killed 8 persons.

End of another Era in Burkina Faso

The military in Burkina Faso says it has seized power and overthrown President Roch Marc Kaboré.

The announcement was made on state television by an army officer, who cited the deteriorating security situation for the military takeover.

Mr Kaboré's whereabouts are unclear, but the officer said that all those detained were in a secure location.

After sixteen months in detention:
Released Stand Up For Cameroon Members Vow To Pursue Activism

Some four members of the Civil Society Organisation, CSO, Stand Up For Cameroon released from detention after sixteen months have vowed to continue with their activism.

The four members of the organisation are said to have been released late Friday January 22. They had been in detention at the New Bell Prison in Douala.

Ghana blast: Many feared dead after huge explosion near Bogoso

At least 17 people have been killed in a huge explosion near a mining town in south-western Ghana, officials say.

Police say a truck carrying explosives to a gold mine collided with a motorcycle near the town of Bogoso.
