The principal of an Ottawa high school is apologizing to students, parents and guardians after an Arabic-language song was played during the school's Remembrance Day service.

മുന്‍ മന്ത്രിയും കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് നേതാവുമായ എംടി പത്മ (80) അന്തരിച്ചു. മുംബൈയിലായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം. മൃതദേഹം നാളെ കോഴിക്കോട്ടെത്തിക്കും. മുംബൈയില്‍ മകള്‍ക്കൊപ്പമായിരുന്നു താമസം.1987ലും 1991ലും കൊയിലാണ്ടിയില്‍നിന്ന് നിയമസഭാംഗമായി. 1991ല്‍ കരുണാകരന്‍ മന്ത്രിസഭയില്‍ ഫിഷറീസ്, ഗ്രാമവികസന, രജിസ്‌ട്രേഷന്‍ വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രിയായിരുന്നു. 1999ല്‍ പാലക്കാട് നിന്നും 2004ല്‍ വടകരയില്‍ നിന്നും ലോക്‌സഭയിലേക്ക് മത്സരിച്ചെങ്കിലും പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. കെ കരുണാകരന്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ്സ് വിട്ട് ഡിഐസി രൂപവത്കരിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ അതിലേക്കു പോയി. എന്നാല്‍, പിന്നീട് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസില്‍ തിരിച്ചെത്തി. 2013ല്‍ കോഴിക്കോട് കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന്‍ കൗണ്‍സിലറാവുകയും പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവാവുകയും ചെയ്തു.നിയമ ബിരുദധാരിയും ആര്‍ട്‌സ് ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദധാരിയുമായിരുന്ന പത്മ കെഎസ്‌യു വിലൂടെയാണ് രാഷ്ട്രീയരംഗത്തെത്തിയത്.
