Wright did over 700 sketches of The Guggenheim before he found the right one!

The Guggenheim received a somewhat mixed response when it first opened in 1959; one critic referred to it as "an inverted oatmeal dish." With the artwork hung on the exterior wall and a single, long, open gallery that descends in a spiral from top to bottom, he intended the interior to be a "fluid" experience. It is undeniable that Wright's design for the Guggenheim Museum offers a spatial freedom distinct from his style, notwithstanding the criticism of others. Wright's vision became an extraordinary sculpture of a building overlooking Central Park, which at the very least deserves to be recognized as one of the most spatially beautiful International-style works of architecture. It took him 700 sketches and six working drawings to realize his vision.

"The Sims" game was originally designed as an Architecture simulator.

The Sims debuted in 2000 and is one of the most popular video games available. The game's original idea, though, saw it operating more like SimCity: players would create a house, and autonomous characters would evaluate the plan's viability.

Architecture was once an Olympic sport!

151 medals were given out throughout the first 40 years of the modern Olympics in music, art, literature, sculpture, and architecture. Art was regarded as a crucial component of the competition by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who revived the modern games and established the International Olympic Committee. The only restriction was that each contribution had to be about sports.
