A public park in a little village called Riversdale on the north end of the peninsula.
Rufus and I drive up here semi-regularly - and watch the breeze and feel the waves.
This is the public beach in Riversdale - on the north end of the Placencia peninsula.
It ain’t terrible.
I’m on an island - standing on a yoga deck.
Which I would turn into a small shack - and settle in to ride out this thing called life.
Key West inspired Jimmy Buffett to write “I Have Found Me a Home.”
Its opening lines:
“The days drift by - they don’t have names.”
So too is it in Placencia, Belize.
Which leads me to write:
“How the heck is it February 12th already?”
Rufus and I were paroled to Belize - a year ago today.
Rufus and I stopped by two places this evening.
And when I sell the preceding post - I’ll build here.
Friday afternoon at The Escape Patch.
Rufus has been walking leash-free for about a week now.
He’s been quickly cogent of the need to stay relatively close.
But he and I both revel in the freedom it affords.
He’s a spectacular creature.
I’m really glad he’s here.
Rufus Unleashed.
On Monday I experimented with letting The Man off the line.
It’s really risky. He’s 6-1/2 lbs - and we live on a jungle peninsula full of creatures who will eat him.
Plus - he may take off into the dense foliage in pursuit of an Iguana or Agouti.
So far, he’s been an outstanding boy. Staying within earshot and eyeline.
And he LOVES it.
He’s brilliant.
I’m really glad he’s here.
