Very sad news here. The Storyteller's Cottage is an incredible site for creativity.

As you know, The Storyteller's Cottage has been closed since March. Indoor events are still limited, and it's clear that many people may still be uncomfortable attending activities in closed spaces even when restrictions are lifted. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close the Storyteller's Cottage physical location at 750 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.

On behalf of all of our staff and collaborators, we'd like to extend our utmost gratitude to the thousands of book nerds we've been privileged to meet over the past three years. We have utterly adored creating fantastical literary events for you all, and will cherish the memories of all the mysterious, exotic and extravagant adventures we shared.

The good news is that we've pivoted to an online format, and will continue to bring literature to life for an even larger audience than we could accommodate in our little house. Keep an eye on our website, storytellerscottage.podia.com, where we'll continue to create new downloadable content, from our new Story Hikes to our popular Mysteries by Mail and much more. We've even launched a new blog, Sparking Creativity, to share what we've learned about using our imaginations to build amazing things.

The Cottage will be open for "One Last Goodbye" on Saturday, September 12 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Gift bags filled with assorted Storyteller's Cottage logo merchandise (t-shirts, mugs, books, stickers, bookmarks) will be available on the porch for just $5 per bag, while supplies last.

In addition, we will be running "Last Chance Mystery Games" in the Dame Disappears room by appointment only on 9/19 and 9/20. Please email [email protected] to book a game. $33 per player, limit 4 players per game.

Inquiries about the purchase of furnishings and fixtures may also be directed to [email protected].

Thanks again for all your support, and we hope you'll join us online! Stay tuned for more news about the new tenant of 750 Hopmeadow Street, a fantastic new escape room business.

While I have not made any concrete decisions, I am currently leaning toward closing out the Table to Stage project. This pandemic had taken a toll on my creative energy, and until I get it back I won't be recording any new episodes. If you've listened to even one minute of this podcast, I hope you know how genuine my passion for creativity is - and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking this journey with me. I will certainly keep you all posted when I figure out what the future holds for this project.

Love you all.
Jordan

Glad everyone was safe, but that's some incredible damage.

Have you been wondering about the potential impacts of on and the ? The gig economy seems to be at great risk among all the closings and cancellations, but it's not all bad news. Creativity isn’t just about artists.

There is a need for creation, a compulsion to make, to adapt, to leave a personal mark on the world in the limited time each of us has in it.

But creativity isn’t limited to the arts. When we are at our best, there is creativity in every human endeavor. Educators, musicians, writers, designers, chefs, and gamers all share the creative impulse; it is the creative drive that engages each of us in our hobbies, our passions, and our interactions with our environment.

Conversations on Table to Stage focus on why and how - why are we drawn to create and how do we express ourselves; why are we so demanding of ourselves to be creative and how do we process limitation and achievement; why do we leave ourselves vulnerable to judgement and how do we grow our creative selves; why is creativity important and how do we incorporate it into our lives.

Host Jordan Werme speaks with guests from Connecticut and the wider world to gather the stories of creators from every discipline, exploring the common threads and themes that run through our collective experiences. If you’ve never picked up a paintbrush you will still recognize parts of yourself in the painter. If you’ve never held a guitar you may yet hear pieces of yourself in the music. If you’re terrified of being in front of a crowd you may recognize the struggle of a stage performer.
