The whiteboard says it all... we really are very close to finishing now!!!
As we move into our 39th hour of the challenge, the finished film is starting to take shape. The powerhouse that is Tim Callaghan, fuelled by little more than curry, gin, and raw talent is Making Stuff Look Good (his official job) and the legend that is William Price is Making Stuff Sound Good (which is, y'know, what he does). Meanwhile Matthew Dashper-Hughes is making drinks and occasional 'helpful' suggestions as well as coming up with the occasional bit of foley or a sound file or two ... and also dropping off and snoring from time to time!
Shots are all being synchronised with the sound files. Musical motifs are at the conceptual stage, but luckily the man, the legend, the musician's musician William Price has just arrived to steer the musical ship. Probably time to order a curry...
Have iMac will travel ... after a ‘refreshing’ three hours of sleep I have all my shot together to head back to Tim’s for the edit!
7am and we have wrapped on the shoot. A mahoosive THANK YOU to our amazing actors for their time, patience, enthusiasm, and commitment - Laura, Alison, Roland, Chris ... you guys rock!!!
Just finished all of the shooting in the Job Centre scenes. Just got all the other scenes in the house to do. And it's already 2.30am... I think that the wrap may be quite late this year!
Jack was like “make me look like I’m in Hogwarts” ... everyone else was saying “Jack! Where’s your torso gone?!?”
Matthew and Alistair have completed the shooting script ... Laura, Alistair, and Chris are smashing the script read throughs and rehearsal stuff ... Jack and Tim are set dressing. Time to order a pizza mo-fos!
Script is complete (well done Alistair) and table read through is done. A few visual ideas added in as we've gone through it. Now the actorly types are getting costumes together, Tim is setting up mission control (editing suite), and Matthew is working on the shooting script and the storyboard...
...and so another film-making adventure begins. The London SciFi 48 Hour Film Challenge 2018 has started GAME ON!
We have been given the following variables this year:
TITLE: Ad Nauseum
LINE OF DIALOGUE: "I usually keep a spare one on me but funnily enough I didn't think I'd need it today".
PROP: A character puts an SD Card or a USB Stick into a slot.
OPTIONAL EXTRA SCIFI TROPE: unemployment is illegal - everyone must work or face jail.
So far we have had an initial script meeting and now Alistair Hughes (aka Writer Wookiee) is feverishly belting out a first draft of the script.
So here it is...We completed last Monday on time, and we're pretty pleased with it.

Well everyone has been asking for the news, so here it is. We received 148 films for the film challenge this year. Shortlisting has begun...and tough as always, some brilliant films! More news soon Louis & the SFL team.

And that my friends, is a wrap! 5.15 AM, Sunday. Home 6 AM and let the editing and VFX begin. Epic day, with epic people.
We have our location (6th Floor Suite at the Abode in Chester), a script, well rehearsed actors, and story boards. Lights, and roll camera,... and Action! Gonna be a late one ☺.

Synopsis agreed by the whole team, script writing by Al now commences. While the rest of the team figure out the logistics of the shoot.
