WOMEN WHO SOLD THEIR CONSCIENCE POLITICALLY FOR PEANUT CRIES OUT.

ANAMBRA, NIGERIA: Are women political tools in your country?

In Anambra, a state in Nigeria, some women after the Governorship Election went out to the street to protest the faults of the election in support of an opposition candidate known as "Ngige."

But surprisingly, the women spokesperson who led some of her friends to the protest have opened up on their journey to state capital, where they staged the protest.

Speaking to our Correspondent in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. She said they were actually paid to stage the protest by an opposition candidate whom the out come of the election result seem not to be favored.

Mrs Njideka Nwaigwe with tears narrated her story at Aroma junction on how she and her friends were tricked into an emergency protest rally assignment last sunday in Awka, Anambra state capital about the conduct of the election and opposition's dismal performance in the election.

Mrs Nwaigwe said she was told that anyone individual willing to go to Awka for a protest will receive N5,000 cash and APC uniform (party uniform), but were disappointed as they were paid N2,000 Nigeria naira only (around 10 USD).

She recounted how she was getting ready to go to church when her neighbor called her that the bus have come to take them to Awka for protest rally.

She hurriedly took off her church service clothes and rushed to the venue and they were taken to Awka.

According to her, Inside the bus, they were educated on what to do by one party man who kept on talking all through the drive from Ezinifite to Aroma in Anambra state of Nigeria.

According to her, the party man instructed them to roll on the floor and shout and cry, to rain abuses on the Election Institution chairman known as Prof. Jega and Mr. Peter Obi the governor of that state who has a friend contesting for same position. The party man said his party officials will be watching for who performed the best, as the person will get extra N2,000.

"This was what brought us to Awka" she added.

"Now, we were paid N2,000 on reaching Awka instead of N5,000 and most of us did not have the vehicle to go back to our various towns."

The Election institution known as INEC has declared the election "inconclusive" due to reported cases that some opposition party to the ruling party used their staffers in few areas. Hence, the Body plans for supplementary election.

Meanwhile, the opposition party which have been accused of transporting political Rig Experts from from other states, majorily indicated in the election fraud and was voted against massively by the people is calling for the cancellation of the election which the ruling party seem to have won with over 84 percent votes.

Are women used as political tools in your community? Let us know the roles of women politically in your country.

WAE BUSINESS VOICE:

“We are all trying to become the next Facebook, which is indeed a story of innovative success, but we need to move away from the ‘copy and paste’ syndrome. What may work brilliantly in one continent and culture may not be directly transferable across the board. In Africa, when learning from successful case studies, one should ask the critical question; ‘Is the solution provided related to the problems that are affecting Africa today?’ We need to link African problems with innovation and create monetary value. Now that is business,”

BOMB ON A BUS

A Bomb was thrown at Luxurious Bus In Kano city of Nigeria.

Passengers of the luxury bus entering Kano yesterday survived an attack after improvised explosive devices were thrown at the vehicle by unknown attackers near Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Northern Nigeria.

This came a day after the bomb blast in Kano on Monday in which four were injured.it was gathered that the incident happened around 8pm, when the multiple-seater bus was heading to Sabon Gari to discharge passengers.

Another account, however, said only four persons were on board the vehicle when the incident happened, adding that all the passengers had earlier been dropped at a park in Na’ibawa, less than half a kilometre away.

It was gathered that the explosives, which were made of drink cans, did not cause damage to the vehicle or result in casualty.

However, mobile policemen cordoned off the area and blocked section of the Zaria Road for over an hour.

CLICK AND READ! ON GOING RIOT IN NIGERIA AND THE US ALERT

BREAKING NEWS

RIOT IN KANO AS UITED STATES OF AMERICA IS ON HIGH ALERT FOR NIGERIAN ISLAMIC ATTACKS.

The Commercial city of Kano, Nigeria has engulfed by Religious rioters, over an alleged accusation of blaspheming Islam by a non-Muslim man from a tribe (Igbo) in south-east Nigeria.

The man was allegedly accused of saying in native Hausa language; “Na Annabi ya zo kauwa” (God is for everybody) by a passers-by, who overheard him and assumed that he was blaspheming the Islamic faith.

He alerted others, and they started chanting "Allah hu Akbar", setting Houses, Churches, cars and businesses, mostly of Christians and Southerners leaving in the area.

The casualty figure is still unknown, though five persons have been reported killed as the security officers have been drafted to control the situation. Bichi town is 45 kilometers to Kano city.

Meanwhile, The United States remains on high alert attacks on its interests in Nigeria by Islamists, even though they have not mounted any major operations for months, the U.S. ambassador said on Thursday.

Ambassador Terence McCulley also told West-African Echo that unrest in northern Mali made it easier for Nigeria's Islamist sect Boko Haram to link up with outside jihadist groups, including al Qaeda's north African wing.

"We're still on a pretty high state of alert. There are potential targets of opportunity so ... we need to be careful," McCulley said in an interview in the Nigerian capital Abuja.

Boko Haram is fighting to impose Islamic, or sharia, law on Nigeria, whose population of 160 million people is split evenly between Christians and Muslims.

At least 2,800 people have died in fighting in the largely Muslim north since the sect launched an uprising against the government in 2009, watchdog group Human Rights Watch says.

McCulley alluded to a bombing claimed by Boko Haram of the Nigeria headquarters of the United Nations in August 2011, killing 24 people, and the kidnappings and killings of one British, one Italian and one German citizen earlier this year.

Although Boko Haram itself denied any involvement in the kidnappings, they were thought to be the work of other Islamist groups with links to the sect.

"That is clear evidence that if there are targets of opportunity they will seize them. They are working contrary to our interests and other Western interests," McCulley said.

Threats to U.S. interests by Nigerian Islamic radicals were highlighted on Christmas 2009, when Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to blow up a U.S. airliner bound for Detroit with a bomb hidden in his underpants.

McCulley said Nigerian forces had made some headway against the insurgency, including taking out some leaders, and for months there had not been an attack with massive casualties, like the one in Kano that killed 186 people in January.

"I don't think that diminishes the group's intent to carry out these types of acts so I think we have to be careful in assuming the insurgency has ... been tamed," McCulley said.

Apart from the U.N. bombing and the kidnappings, Nigerian Islamists have seemed more interested in local targets, killing non-muslims especially the igbos of South-East Nigeria leaving in Northern Nigeria.

McCulley said chaos in Mali had enabled Boko Haram to forge links with jihadists who have a global, anti-Western agenda.

Military experts from Africa, the United Nations and Europe have drafted plans to retake control of northern Mali, but no action is expected until well into next year.

Security officials say there is evidence some Boko Haram members have received training from al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The U.N. bombing last year raised concerns that the sect was using its training to target Western interests.

"An Islamist enclave in a vast northern Mali certainly makes that easier ... given porosity of borders and the proliferation of arms in the region," McCulley said.

"It gives one cause for concern that this could be a significant problem in the future."

POLICE DETAINED SEVEN( 7)-MONTHS-OLD BABY OVER N20,000 PARENT'S DEBT

A seven– month old baby boy, Uchenna Nwoye, allegedly arrested and detained by the police in Onitsha, Nigeria over N20, 000 debt owed by the parents.

The baby was arrested at Ifitedunu in Dunukofia local government area of Anambra State by policemen from Fegge Police Station, Onitsha, Nigeria for failure to pay the N20,000 to a woman Uchenna’s father allegedly did business with.

Narrating the incident to newsmen, yesterday, in Onitsha, mother of the boy, 23-year-old Mrs. Ukamaka Nwoye, said the baby was whisked away by the policemen without any reason, adding that they were fast asleep when heavily armed policemen numbering over 20 forced open their door and arrested all the occupants, including the 7-months-old boy.

She said: “On November 7, at about 2.30am, we were all asleep when suddenly, some policemen came into our compound and forced their way into our house and arrested us, including my 7-month-old baby. They took us to their bus and whisked us away to a place we later found out was Fegge Police Station, Onitsha.

“They denied us the opportunity to call any of our relations. It was one of the policemen who saw how my child was almost suffocating inside the cell that secretly helped me to call one of my brothers and I told him where we were being detained. We spent over seven days in detention.”

It’s no more time to be shy of this thing about using violent means to achieve our goals. We must now be circulating violent strategies and get the people make up their minds for such. If for any reason we do not use it and we are still able to get our victory, then fine for all!

My concern is, we have complain a lot, who are we complaining to? NEC and the security officials have all connived with APC to disenfranchise our people, rigged the elections and forced us into becoming mere spectators and voiceless class of complainers in our own country. We have failed to act like a true and natural citizens of Sierra Leone, we are acting like mere strangers or second class citizens of Sierra Leone. We are not acting out of fear, but we are sending miss signals to the people of Sierra Leone and the criminal APC party. I am not advocating for violence here, but if that’s the only message APC can understand, then why can’t we man up in defense of our natural and constitutional rights?. If we lost this legitimate battle so worth fighting for, APC will turn Sierra Leone into another one party state and they will be in power for half a century, until another revolution comes into play. Take Ivory Coast case as an example, if they had relied only on diplomatic re solution and mere complaints, the opposition would have lost that battle. That been said, I am so disappointed in the Sierra Leonean people,( the suffering masses, people that we have been fighting for, people that we have sacrificed for, people that we thought deserved a better life, people whose children are on street corners fighting each other for dirty edibles, the non school goers). This elections teaches us a lesson and maybe unearthed the principal reason why Sierra Leone continue to be amongst the least underdeveloped country in the world. Tribalism, shortsightedness and immediate cheap benefits have taken the center stage. We have a long way to go.
