A pattern with a timeless journey!

Although the pattern dates back to the 1700s, plaid did not gain popularity until the 70's.
Originally worn by the Celtics and called “tartan” the pattern became popular in 70's interior design and later clothes when a plaid buttoned-up was featured on Dukes of Hazard.
During the 80's plaid fell out of the mainstream and was adopted into the punk look.
This led to plaid being adopted in the grunge look of the 90s and really exploding into what plaid has become now. Plaid was also featured in movies like Clueless making it mainstream.
