Work sessions with Mr. Bray Labs where we just talk about story are really helpful! Frequently, when i write, i ask myself if what i’ve written is garbage or if i’m somewhat on the right track.

“The Six Woes of Poe”, is the character development brainstorming session i needed! I found the elements required to implement into each episode, Poe’s pet peeves, triggered by each of the supporting characters. One per episode.

We are starting to share audition videos! This video contains the auditions for the first of four main characters, this character’s name is Poe.
We chose to send out an “Open Call” for Auditions. What this means is that anyone could audition for these characters regardless of experience or representation (by a talent agency). As opposed to a “Closed Call” for auditions where all people auditioning tend to be experienced actors with agents who represent them and find them roles for them to audition for that seem like they are within that actor’s look/age/demographic/skillset.
So you gotta give it to anyone willing to be vulnerable enough to audition! Especially when we noted that all auditions would be shared on the channel as a part of this process! When you audition, typically you’re given a very, very brief description of the character and a tiny bit of context as to the situation the character is in. It can be a very vulnerable & nerve-racking process!
We aren’t big on acting credentials, what’s important to us is that the voice talent, vocally fits the role, can take direction, and that that person is kind and easy to work with! We are not looking for stellar videos or someone with professional sound equipment.
Enjoy this first round of auditions for Poe! I got a kick out of hearing a very different array of potential voices!
So very, very thrilled and happy to announce we hit 100k subscribers on our journey to create an animated kid’s tv show, “Inklings” and document the process along the way by sharing the Behind-the-Scenes! Mr. Bray Labs has been working incredibly hard to get us where we are now. I’m super excited to really dive into the process of writing and to share it with all of you! DAY 31 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! This one was always meant for tonight. Been in the tank since about May. The MOST REWARDING part of this project is to see how far i can push myself and to see how some ideas, with as much thought and time i have to forge them turn out compared to the ones i create out of panic and desperation to achieve the micro goals of reaching 31 for the year! Sometimes the meticulously planned are BIG WINS… sometimes, it’s the most random & absurd that come to me in the shadows of night 2-3 nights after i’ve ran out of ideas that steal the show! It’s also rewarding to see which ones are popular among those who follow me on this journey. I thank those of you who share your input with me. Separating the wheat from the chaff can be a messy business, especially if you have your heart set on a particular one. This year was a scream! But the has just begun. YEAR 4 of 10 starts now!!! DAY 30 - I saw “Cop Shop” a few weeks ago now. I was absolutely blown away by Alexis Louder ‘s performance! if you haven’t seen it yet, then you should! It was really great watching BTS footage on the internet of her preparing for her role in Cop Shop! Without talking with Alexis, this is one of a few ideas i have had cooking that i think she’d be great in! Blumhouse
DAY 29 - ‘s own mother-in-law was on the Princeton Alumni Weekly Podcast in the spring. Her story of relearning German so she could read a book she found in an attic inspired tonight’s idea. Blumhouse

DAY 25 - If i did nothing else right for the rest of the year, i’d chalk up finding the grossest royalty free picture of an uncovered sneeze for this post as a HUGE win! For day 25, i explore an origin of a social nicety that people say but don’t really understand, they just believe it’s good manners to do so! Blumhouse

DAY 23 - i find it fascinating how the brainstorming process can cascade into multiple ideas by linking an element of one into the next. Blumhouse
DAY 22 - I remember being in my 7th grade band class and a few friends snickering about the supposed “Brown note” that exists and learning what that was. But what if there was a note or sequence of notes that made people want to kill themselves? I’ll be sure to keep that one off my playlist! Blumhouse

DAY 18 - Shoutout to Adobe Spark i love using Spark to create these compositions to try to capture the tone of my film ideas. In tonight’s idea, i have hidden my ghost in plain sight with the opacity tool along with the remove background tool! Keep the new tools coming, Adobe !! Love this app! Blumhouse

DAY 16 - So, i saw Halloween Movie …that was heaping dose of gratuitous gnarly violence. Jamie Lee Curtis was amazing!! Can’t wait to see the conclusion of Lori’s story!! Stoked to see the 3rd Act of this saga! Tonight’s idea was inspired by this film. I have a feeling that is gonna blow me away! Blumhouse
