2025 is a new year but some things can stay in 2024 -

Photo and video editing trends are changing all the time. In 2025 give a new one a try! But let’s leave the negative Nancy comments on other people’s posts in 2024. We’re growing up a little this year.

In the spirit of de-influencing we’re going to have a more minimal year. We will be less influenced by the newest gear on the internet and learn to master the equipment in our hands right now!

Nobody wants to see your 5 minute/3 paragraph rant on why horizontal video is the best or that “real videographers” shoot horizontal. The truth of the matter is that social media is the tool being used most to reach new audiences, so this year we are shifting all of that rant energy into creativity in our vertical shots.

Speaking of social media, it’s an ever growing tool - use it. This year we are all going to invest extra time in marketing ourselves through our platforms. Which means we aren’t calling it cringy anymore.

Lastly, collaboration is about mutual growth and shared creativity. Working together with other creatives allows us to exchange ideas, learn new perspectives, and elevate each other. Respecting each person’s time, skills, and resources is key — collaboration should always feel like a win-win for everyone involved.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving in whatever way that looks like for you. I live states away from my family and have for many years.

While I always know that I could spend time with my friends if I needed it, I love taking the holidays to live in quiet and reset.

It’s ok to be happily alone for Thanksgiving, it’s ok to be a little sad on Thanksgiving, and it’s totally ok to do nothing at all if that’s what you want.

As I reflect on everything that surrounds me, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude — for the people in my corner, my health, and my work.

My people - simply put, I couldn’t do it without them. I often feel undeserving of their support, motivation, and inspiration.

My health - a reminder that strength, energy, and resilience are some of the greatest blessings. Taking care of myself so I can show up for others is something I never take for granted.

My work - every opportunity, every project, and every challenge is a chance to create, inspire, and grow. I’m endlessly thankful to do what I love and share it with my corner of the world.

Life isn’t always easy, but when I look at everything around me and everything I can do, I know I’m right where I’m meant to be. This is to moving forward with gratitude in my heart.

I’m constantly dabbling in what I can do in photoshop to change the effect of photos to really expand my style and the vision my photos.

I like playing with gradients and textures and I wish I had more time to be really creative with photos - my Q4 goal is to make time for creativity.

It’s been over 2 weeks since I’ve posted on my account. Not because I don’t have anything to post about, but sometimes realistically social media is draining. It can be difficult to feel inspired and begins to feel like less and less of an escape and more of another daunting task on my to do list. A hurricane hit, projects were canceled and a really exciting month turned into a typical one (which is the best case scenario for some of NC so I’m still very blessed) but the point is that it’s ok if you hit a wall or something doesn’t work out. It’s also totally fine to be bummed about it. And it’s also totally fine to take a break from whatever you need to.

Moral of the story - there is no quick fix that will grow your account instantly. There is benefits to strategy and putting thought into your accounts and online presence but no amount of clicking certain buttons will make you an overnight sensation. To grow an actual effective community on your side of the internet, you have to be consistent, active, and provide value (value is subjective here and specific to each creator🤍) Don’t fall victim to as-seen-on-tv esque creators with the magic behind the curtain lever that will instantly make you an internet millionaire.
