10 years ago, the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami struck the east coast of Japan. It was devastating.

In response, HiCap Records put together an album to raise funds for disaster relief.

Many wonderful Pacific Northwest artists contributed to the album.

By the time the album was ready for release, Sandy had struck the east coast of the United States, so the album was titled “Sorrows Like Sea Billows: From Sendai to Sandy”, taken from the Horatio G. Spafford hymn “It Is Well With My Soul”.

We managed to raise funds and send them to the Philippines for disaster relief after a typhoon had hit the nation.

The album is still available on iTunes and Spotify, and the proceeds are still donated to disaster relief.

HiCap Records is grateful to our local artist community for their support in this effort, and to all the people who contribute to disaster relief. You are people who make the world a better place.
