The 5th Annual Holiday Lights Tour starts tonight! 🎅🎁

Get your map at https://2024holidaylightstour.eventbrite.com to join in the fun of this self-driving tour and see some of the community's best decorated homes!

You will also get a ballot to vote for your favorite home on the tour! It's just $15 for your whole carload, with all proceeds supporting mental health services at Airport Marina Counseling Service.

This Saturday is the Playa del Rey Toy Drive! Community members are invited to participate in the 21st Annual Playa del Rey Children’s Hospital Toy Drive and Animal Shelter Collection (benefiting Pet Harbour) on Saturday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at Triangle Park.

Hosted by Jane St. John and Felicia St. Denis, the event is a way for neighbors to come together to spread holiday cheer! 🧸🎁🪀

It's holiday travel season, and LAX is anticipating a busy Thanksgiving holiday travel period, with more than 2.2 million passengers traveling between November 21 to December 2. 🛫🦃🍂

The busiest travel day is expected to be Sunday, November 24, so plan ahead when driving to or around the airport.

Then the Westchester Mental Health Guild would love your participation in their 5th Annual Holiday Lights Tour & Contest!

Add to the festiveness of the season by registering your home for this annual tradition that helps raise money for important mental health services in the community!
Participants will be added to a map of Westchester/Playa’s most dazzling homes and be eligible to win some fantastic prizes. For a donation to the Guild, community members can purchase the map and go on a self-guided tour to check out all the lights, inflatables, Santas and more. They’ll also get a chance to vote for the “Fan Favorite!”

Westchester’s favorite independent bookstore, The Book Jewel, is inviting kids 4-12 to participate in its annual Halloween-themed Scary Story and Picture Contest! 👻🎃

Aspiring writers (ages 7-12) are asked to submit their best original weird tales to the shop by October 23 at 7 p.m. Stories should be scary, yet family-appropriate, and be five minutes or less when read aloud. Participants must be available to share their creative fiction at The Book Jewel during its authors’ reading event on October 27 at noon.📖💀

Artists ages 4-6 are invited to have their parents drop off a drawing for the Scary Picture Contest by October 23 at 7 p.m.

The Book Jewel will be awarding gift cards to winners in every age group!

Ghosts, witches and other mysterious creatures will be lurking in the stacks at LMU’s 12th Annual Haunting of Hannon Library! 👻💀📖

Attendees are guaranteed to have a wickedly fun time at this literary fright fest, courtesy of LMU’s Theater Arts program, and written and directed by Kevin Wetmore.

This year’s theme is “Secret, Dark, and Midnight Things,” and will take attendees through a labyrinth of books, while they explore the haunted plays of Shakespeare.

An adult version of the event will take place on October 18 and 19 from 8 to 11 p.m. A family-friendly version, featuring notable characters from children’s literature, will take place on October 19 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
