Bloody Sunday: 49 years on

Bloody Sunday has been etched into the history books as 'the day that innocence died', when 14 unarmed civilians were murdered on the streets of Derry.

"Any remaining vestige of trust that the people here may have retained in British army impartiality and justice has now completely evaporated."

Derry YouTube Sensation Adam B surprised dozens of people in the city this week by pulling up outside their home and presenting them with gifts from his very own ice cream van.

In his whistle stop tour of Derry, Adam gave out gifts such as laptops, iPad's, mobile phones and toys, with the grand total cost of all gifts coming to a staggering £20,000 - all from his own pocket.

His last stop was a visit to the home of twins Adam and Aoife Burke, who recently lost their father. Adam B gifted tonnes of toys to the twins for their upcoming birthday, whilst also presenting their mother Bronagh with a brand new car. 🚗

The Western Health and Social Care Trust Chief Executive has today said that Derry's Altnagelvin Hospital currently has no Covid19 patients.

Dr Kilgallen said that this was a great cause for "celebration", but that they will not become complacent.

An Altnagelvin ICU Nurse has praised the people of Derry for their quick actions at the beginning of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

"Derry being in lockdown meant that pressures were eased on ICU staff, allowing us to take proper care of those most seriously ill. This has resulted in all Covid patients being discharged at present, with a 100% survival rate."

Nurse Eva McGilloway has said she is so lucky to work with an incredible team in ICU.

Following the announcement, writer Lisa McGee said she was "hugely honoured" to be nominated for the award.

Hats off to Derry-born footballer James McClean who has donated £3000 to a fund for a local boy named Caleb Williamson. The 1 year old has been diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (a form of eye cancer).

The 'JustGiving' page originally set out to raise £1000 to help the family, who are taking Caleb to Switzerland for continuous treatment. James managed to treble that with a £3000 donation 👏🏼🙌🏼.
