“In the eight weeks of July and August, more than a thousand origami pieces were folded and selected over twelve consecutive art therapy sessions to create a collage representing volunteers from the USA, Germany, Japan, and Singapore, involved in the Miracle Kutchie Experience 3 Art Retreat, Singapore. With the help of technology and Skype, I supervised the therapeutic care of the twenty children from Fukushima with Expressive Origami Therapy, which I had formulated almost twenty years ago. It was an amazing experience for me to supervise remotely and then to meet the kids after. At the same time, I was treating myself with Expressive Origami Therapy after I underwent brain surgery in New York this year. Post-surgery was a good chance for me to execute the therapy on myself and it worked beautifully..” Toshiko Kobayashi, Supervisor at NYU Graduate Art Therapy Program for our December issue cover art.
