Eating out and properly nourishing your body isn’t the easiest thing to do…I did it! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Lunch

What I ate:

Crispy Turkey wing with Crudité on a bed of buffalo sauce and blue cheese (ate around the blue cheese)

Fingerling Sweet Potatoes with feta (got extra 😋)

What you don’t see is the Garden Salad tossed in Red Wine Vinaigrette

Lunch was AMAZING, farm to table and compliant. I was tempted to have a glass of wine, but we all know alcohol does not do the body good at all…So no wine.

Another opportunity to take care of me at lunchtime and reach my daily nutrition goals xo

Trying to do better with nourishing my body with whole and nutritious foods. During my menopause journey I’ve found that taking time out to do things for yourself goes a long way. Small things like sitting down at the kitchen table to enjoy lunch is a victory for me.

I sincerely believe sharing is caring when it comes to women’s health. I’m not an expert. I’m just someone that believes sharing my experiences related to health, wellness and menopause might support other women as they navigate their journey.

This particular part of my journey has been quite challenging. I was diagnosed with mold toxicity almost a year ago. I was treated and moved on still not feeling my best. Actually, I was operating at about 50% capacity. Definitely hiding how I was feeling to everyone. 30 days ago, I reached a point of “I can’t take this anymore”…A battery of blood tests were run and my practitioner said, “Something isn’t right. You’re body is fighting something.” She ran more blood tests…I never cleared the mold and it’s now worse. The prescription was Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UBI). What I didn’t know is that there are “side effects”…I’m having a herxheimer response with flu like symptoms. These “side effects” are good. It means my body is evicting mold and whatever else is lurking.

My transparency is rooted in helping others. I pray that there’s something that triggers you to go see that provider, get that second opinion, research functional/integrative medicine and look at your overall wellness differently.

Here are a few tips that I’ve implemented to put myself in the drivers seat of my wellness journey.

💥Don’t ignore how you feel.
💥Keep a wellness journal.
💥Be relentless in your pursuit to achieve wellness.
💥Hold your practitioner accountable.
💥Be your own advocate.
💥Do your research.
💥Look for qualified practitioners.
💥Give yourself grace

After almost 3 YEARS of feeling horribly and doctor after conventional medicinal practitioners telling me, “you’re fine and it’s all in your head 🤬) my functional /integrative medical team at Progressive Medical Center finally got to the why and what. We got the menopause and thyroid issues managed. Yet there was still something not right. NP Clarissa Giles ordered a few more blood tests and here we are at UBI IV therapy.

Moral of the story: ADVOCATE for yourself, ALWAYS (and I mean ALWAYS) get a second and third opinion, there are more than pharmacological and surgical options and you are the master of your healthcare.

I marvel at my Mommy creativity and her expansive Black collection. She’s been collective for over 50 years (longer than I’ve been alive). Mommy handles each one of them with care. When asked why she takes them out the box, she said, “This is my collection. It brings me joy to handle them. You can’t do that when they are in the box”

I’m so proud of her. It’s wonderful that she can do what she loves during this part of her life journey. I love you Mommy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Come on a personal shopping appointment with me working with longtime client, CNN Sport Anchor, Patrick Snell. Patrick is an on-air talent and has very specific needs as it relates to his professional wardrobe. Because I have a clear view of what he has in his closet, inserting new is not complicated.

The next phase will include integrating the new with the old so that he gets the full value of his on-air style investment.

This is my post workout / break-my-fast smoothie! It contains Plant Fusion protein powder, a serving of h**p seeds, 1 date, a serving of pumpkin seeds and a bit of water.

This allows me to get my protein, good carbs and fats in which aids in digestion. As we all know, protein is extremely important….helps with immune response, builds and repairs muscles, bone health, blood sugar stabilization and the list goes on. During my menopause journey, I’ve definitely made protein a priority.
