Theremin 30

Theremin 30 The Theremin 30 podcast is 30 minutes of theremin music, news, events, and interviews. New episodes are produced about every 30 days.

Available on several popular podcast aggregators or anytime at www.Theremin30.com. I created the Theremin 30 podcast as a way to bring theremin musicians, composers, instrument makers, and theremin fans together in a different way than has been previously available*. The monthly podcast is meant to combine elements of a radio news magazine program with elements of a radio DJ music air shift -- all

in a compact, 30-minute format. You can listen anytime at http://www.theremin30.com. All of the full-length music recordings played in the show are used with the permission of the recording artists. The copyrights of the musical compositions are owned by the artists or their collaborators, or are in the Public Domain or Creative Commons. Please support these generous artists by legally downloading or streaming their music, buying their CDs, and attending their concerts. In addition to the podcast, Theremin 30 hosts a worldwide “Calendar of Theremin Events.” If you have a concert, workshop, or festival you would like added to the calendar, let me know as far in advance as possible. It takes me about 15 to 25 hours each month to plan, record and edit each podcast episode. Maintaining the website, page, and Twitter account takes another few hours. I have spent hundreds of dollars on necessary audio equipment and software. I purchase some of the CDs and mp3 downloads that I use in the show. Even with the selling of advertising, I do not expect to ever completely recoup my investment of time and money in this project. If you would like to help financially support the Theremin 30 podcast, here’s what you can do:

1- Listen to the podcast every month. Subscribe to it on your favorite podcast app.

2- Tell your friends to listen to it.

3- Support the advertisers that appear in the podcast.

4- Support the affiliate programs on the website (e.g. eBay, Reverb, Zzounds, Eargasm, etc.) by clicking on the ad banners to shop on their websites.

5- Buy products in the Pro Shop and the Merch Store.

6- Become an advertiser on the podcast or website. You can promote your CD, workshop, concert or product that would be of interest to listeners. Rates start at $4 per month.

7- Consider making a small monthly gift or a one-time gift. You will find the "tip jar" in the right side menu of the website. Thank you for your interest and support. I hope you enjoy the show and benefit from it. Rick Reid

A new episode of Theremin 30 is coming soon. My guest will be Miles Brown, and I will be playing new music from Leaf Rapids.

The show has been on hold for a bit, due to some theater production commitments and my recent cross-country move from Denver to Chicago. I should have the new episode ready to go in a few days.

My thanks to the loyal listeners who help with small one-time or monthly donations to help cover my time and expenses.

Theremin Things For Sale! (Updated!)

I am moving from Denver to Chicago very soon and I am downsizing to a smaller apartment. So, I urgently need to sell some of my theremins and accessories that I don't use very often. The proceeds will help pay for my moving expenses.

All instruments have US power supplies. Instrument cables are not included. No original boxes or documents, but most owner's manuals can be found on the Web. Due to the high cost of shipping, and the potential for customs hassles and taxes, I am selling only to US buyers. All prices below are final and include ground shipping via the carrier of my choice.

(In no particular order:)

1- Big Briar (Moog) Etherwave, black. I have covered it with decorative, removable shelf paper. I can take it off before shipping if you don't want it. Works perfectly. One antenna compression nut is a replacement. I am the second owner. $600 (new price)

2- Burns B3 Deluxe theremin. Works okay. has a scratch in the textured black finish on the top of the cabinet. I am the second owner. $130 (new price)

3- Burns B3 Pro (version 2) theremin. Same electronics the B3 Deluxe with the addition of a mute touch plate and LED indicator light. Gorgeous handmade wood cabinet. Rigid aluminum antennas. This particular instrument was the first production unit made after the antenna design was revised. $330 (new price)

4- Harrison Instruments Model 302 theremin. This instrument uses aluminum plates as its antennas. The volume response is inverted (close for loud and far for quiet.) Powered by a 9-volt battery. Sounds good, but the unconventional design takes some practice if you are used to playing a Moog. Harrison Instruments has gone out of business. So this is a rarity. $330 (new price)

5- Lost Volts LV-4 theremin. This is a surprisingly good and playable theremin, considering its low retail price. This one has had very little use. $160 (new price)

Hey, listeners!

I am asking for your help now because I learned today that I am going to lose my full-time job in a few weeks. As you can imagine, I am in shock and panic. If I don't find a comparable new job right away, I could be in serious trouble very soon.

A few listeners have made generous one-time donations in the past. Others have committed to donate $5 USD per month, kind of like buying a subscription to the podcast.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can afford to share with me and my little show as I get through my impending crisis. As always, thank you for listening, sharing your music, and for your support.
