We had such a great night in Monticello IN last night. Always do. Some folks got engaged during our song “Little Bit of Love,” and there was a birthday too. Hard to top that kinda party… No pressure Milwaukee!
We play The Back Room Colectivo tonight 7/30 with Madisen Ward. First time to play in #milwaukee and we are hoping if you know anyone in the area that you’ll share and message this to them ⤵️ or Tag them below maybe? ♥️ thanks. peace n love MM
Dear Saint Louis, it’s so good to be back! We love it here (kinda want to live here actually) and finally after a little hiatus, happy to say we are playing tonight at @citywinerystl in support of @paulthornmusic 🪬 ♥️ Got to catch a STL Cardinals game last night with our friends the Mixons from Louisiana… better luck next time for the Cards I hope.
Got so many good and cool things coming up! Like tonight - The Great Divide is in OKC. Next week, Chrislyn and I head to the midwest! We love it up that way. Then, we come back and I hit the road for some more TGD before ending up in Wimberley to produce an album with Dallas Burrow. Then, me and Chrislyn get to go out to New Mexico for a show in Taos and I get to see my old pal Michael Hearne. And to top it off our Crow and Gazelle album is finished and I am really proud of it. It's a beautiful life and a cool ride. Thank you for coming along.

"crow and gazelle" live at Folk Alliance International 2023
if you don't know already, I've got a new project called Crow and Gazelle It's a duo with my wife, Chrislyn. We recorded an album in February with Jared Tyler at the magic studio of Steve Ripley, which Charlene has kept soaring with her love and care.
+ Check out this little video clip of some behind the scenes
and here is a note from Chrislyn Rose…
***
“to be seen and to be held and still be free, free to fly”
those lines come from a poem that i (chrislyn/gazelle) wrote in 2021, and they found their way into a chorus on our debut album. the song tells our story and gives you a glimpse into the kind of love we believe in, and the love we’ve found - the kind that holds you and still lets you fly free. we wrote it just a few days before going into the studio last month. it’s one of only a couple songs that we had to do harmony overdubs on, because I didn’t quite know it or my parts yet (the majority of our songs we sang and harmonized together live, into the best microphones in all the land) we can’t WAIT for you to hear this song and its fullness. someday. for now, here’s something to share and lean into.

“still free to fly”
bits of unreleased song by crow and gazelle
video - chrislyn rose
what a surreal and amazing week we’ve had. we’ve been immersed in the flow of creation.
we made a Crow and Gazelle record last week(!!) at Steve and Charlene Ripley’s studio. it was pure magic, all the way around. thank you Jared Tyler and Charlene (will write more on that experience when we get off the road in a few days) then we immediately went down to far west texas and played a show last weekend right on the Rio Grande in Presidio. Wow. thank you Lauren and Charlie of Rio Bravo Ranch.
and because of all the magic, we then slipped off into Big Bend National Park and camped for several days. Chrislyn has a deep love for the desert life, which I now can feel too. Being one with nature in the most raw form.
and now? we came back out of the chihuahua desert and are headed to Galveston - Playing there Saturday night at The Old Quarter. Can’t wait.
Speaking of shows… anyone want to host a pop up concert or private party on March 17 or 18th? email Rosie - [email protected]
love and peace
a note from Mike, via Chrislyn (M is still on social media hiatus)
Hey everyone. I typed this up and had Chrislyn post it for me.
I’m in the middle of a social media cleanse. Unfortunately, this is still the best way to let people know about shows so we are trying to find a way to navigate that without triggering my addict brain.
Thursday: Dosey Doe’s in the Woodlands. North side of Houston. They took a barn from the 1840’s and transformed it into a great music venue. The best coffee in the world. Table seating. We'll be in the new BBQ joint they added on.
Friday: One of my favorite listening rooms on the planet, deep in the heart of the Hill Country. The Redbird Listening Room. Dallas Burrow has the perfect small room for super intimate shows. Pin drop. All the time. Heaven. Still some tickets left! Get em.
Saturday: We will be at the Kenney Stored in Kenney, TX. First time to play here. Excited to check it out.
Come out and let us fill your cup.
December 10 Show
We've connected with some really cool folks in our new home base. On December 10th, we're collaborating with other artists and makers and putting on an art show and concert in a 100+ year old building, right off the old brick Main Street of downtown Seymour.
There's lots of reasons "why" we're doing this. For one, we feel a deep need to create a place to connect with others, to make a wave of light and love that can help fill ourselves and others up. And as I said here before, I want to play more listening room shows. So we decided to make our own. The last few weeks have been really great - with amazing shows in Perkins, and at The Gar Hole, and The Red Bird Listening Room. We intend to keep that vibe going with the show on December 10th.
To keep a "listening room" environment, tickets will be limited. We hope you'll come see us! It's gonna be cool.

Hell And High-Water : Crow and Gazelle
This song is called "Hell and High-Water" off of my 50 Billion album. It's one of many I recorded with the late great Joe Hardy. It was his favorite. The record had amazing horns and killer back up vocals by the Gurls from Memphis.
Chrislyn and I have been tinkering around the house with it today with the shruti box and harmonica.
I’ve been playing this song around the house. The lyrics go way back to some I wrote for a Cross Canadian Ragweed album. Cody Canada put some different music to it. I’ve folked it up a bit. Recorded it once with Jamie Lin Wilson. Trying to learn the harmonica.
