[Update] Bangs Garcia to play the title role Sabine in the International film Sabine - The Movie written by Amazon bestselling American author Tom Anthony, to be directed by Grindhouse director Ian del Carmen.

Valerie "Bangs" Garcia (born May 27, 1987) is a Filipina actress in ABS-CBN's sitcom Let's Go and Gokada Go. The nickname "Bangs" came about because her bangs/fringe covered her face.

Valerie Garcia was in the reality show Campus Idol where she emerged as the female grand winner. She is popularly known as her stage name "Bangs Garcia" so she is usually credited on that name.

Her first appearance on national TV was on the reality search Close-Up To Fame where she was one of the runners-up to female grand winner Carine Cabebe. Valerie Garcia is a member of ABS-CBN's circle of homegrown talents named Star Magic.

One of her first major project is ABS-CBN's teleseries Kambal sa Uma as Ynez Ocampo, one of the main antagonists in the story.

In 2010, the management gave her a leading role on Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal?, where she played the role of Carmela Bautista-Morales as the main protagonist.

Sabine - The Movie

[Update] Gwen Garci to play Adriana in the International film Sabine - The Movie written by Amazon bestselling American author Tom Anthony, to be directed by Grindhouse director Ian del Carmen.

http://facebook.com/SabineMovie

Gwen. Garci.

Mention that name and we reckon that most of the men who'll hear it will definitely blurt out, “Sh*t pare, crush ko yun!" with a matching hard tap on a friend’s shoulder—and maybe even a kagat labi. Nearly a decade ago, Gwen was a part of a group of equally-hot, drop dead gorgeous women that made even the most macho-bigotilyo of men dance to their massive dance-novelty songs. Remember Bulaklak and Basketball? Her name also became synonymous with FHM, with multiple cover appearances and perennial inclusion on our 100 Sexiest Women in the World list.

And even now, the craze over Gwen Garci is still far from over.

“After three years, I’m back!” Gwen says with a happy note. Quite honestly, it was us who couldn’t wash away the smile on our faces once we saw her again. We were just too damn happy to know that this chinita charmer is back, doing again what she does best: enticing the FHM nation with her ageless s*x appeal and time-defying curves.

Because we want to share this happiness with you, our dear kumpares, we won’t be holding Gwen back any longer. Now, go tap a friend, a table, click your mouse, whatever, Gwen Garci’s back, spread the news!

Welcome back! It’s been a long time. How long were you away?
Yes, long time. It’s been three years.

Where were you during those three years?
I went to China to study talaga, then, na-in love. Huwag na natin pag-usapan, ha ha!

Are you with VIVA still?
Yes. I signed a contract with them when I got back here.

What classes did you take back in China?
More on Chinese culture, pero ang hirap niya pala. Even if I’m Chinese, I really don’t know how to speak the language well. Even as simple as taking a cab there, siyempre I need to tell the driver kung kanan or kaliwa in Mandarin, kasi they’re not really good with English.

Bummer. So, what are you up to now that you're back?
I’m doing international modeling as a part-time job. I did shoots in Singapore, Dubai, even in Malaysia. I’m also doing property selling nowadays.

Were there any changes that happened during your “hiatus?”
Changes? Meron ba? (stares at us, looking s*xy)

Well, you’re still looking great!
Akala ko tumaba ako eh. Ha ha!

Do you miss your group, the Hot Babes?
Yeah, I do miss my group and, of course, yung samahan namin.

Who among the Hot Babes are you closest with?
Si Jennifer Lee. Even now magkasama pa rin kami. Sa mga part-time job, and even sa real state.

How is this real estate gig going so far?
We’re still new on the job.

We can’t help but imagine you doing a sales pitch. We promise we’re going to be all-ears even if takes a whole day.
Ha ha! Hindi ko pa nae-experience but we did some trainings na before on how to do it. Dadating tayo diyan.

What made you venture into real estate?
I found it challenging. Yung mga kasamahan ko dun, may mga nurse, lawyers, private investigators, then isipin mo bakit sila biglang nag-shift into doing real estate? Naisip ko, siguro dahil malaki ang kita. You also have to be crazy enough to do it kasi it's so hard to sell. Lalo na if you have a huge ego, mahihirapan ka. So far, I’m enjoying it kasi nandoon din si Jen (Lee), si JC (Parker), and Toffe (Calma) and respectable job din siya and malaki yung kita.

Can you say you also have more freedom now with your time?
Definitely. Now, I can travel and choose what I really want to do, unlike before na sobrang hectic yung schedule. Also, I can now do things that I really enjoy. And hindi rin naman ito dahil wala na talagang akong work offers. Actually madami pa rin kumukuha sa akin in showbiz, in photoshoots, out of town shows. With this one, with sales, this is something I can say na pinaghirapan ko. Kung tutuusin I can live a laid-back lifestyle because we have our family business in Baguio. But, for now, na-challenge talaga ako, and also it gives me an opportunity to travel around the world.

What are the places you’re dying to set foot at?
I want to go back to the United States, hindi ko rin kasi siya masyado na-explore when I went there. I also want to go to Australia.

Australia? Why the outback? We hear they have a crazy wildlife.
I find it interesting. I love nature din kasi. I’ll hit their beaches for sure.

We also heard that even up to now, people still come up to you to get their FHM copies signed. How does that feel?
Flattering.

You’ve done a lot of photoshoots, most of them s*xy. Can you still differentiate one from the other?
I’m enjoying it more this time. Before kasi medyo strict nung Hot Babes pa, then may mga shows pa.

And from the looks of it, you still haven’t lost your magic
It’s the same when you act sa movies or sa TV. Even when you’re doing a photo shoot, you must also act in front of the camera. You must learn the concept and relate on what must be done para sa ikagaganda ng outcome ng photos.

Do you have like a regimen when doing a shoot? Or maybe a secret method you’re keeping to yourself to have such grace when teasing our lenses?
Actually before, honestly, I really didn’t know how to pose. Based on my experience, sa tingin ko ang pinaka-important yung expression ng face, dapat hindi dull.

We agree. Moving on, did your hiatus changed your opinion on what type of guy you fancy?
I still hate liars. Also, I still hate guys na mayabang, lalo na yung feeling niya ang guwapo-guwapo niya.

So how will we impress you?
Simple lang, parang “Hi, Gwen,” then introduce yourself properly. Mas nakakatuwa yun compared sa “Hi, what’s up? Are you alone right now?” Nakakairita na yung ganun kahangin na banat.

How is Gwen Garci as a girlfriend?
Kapag na-in love ako, ikaw lang. Suwerte mo. Hindi na ako titingin sa iba.

How are you as a lover?
As a lover? Expect the best! Ha ha!

Sabine - The Movie

[Update] Internationally-acclaimed Filipino actor Leon Miguel to play Manuelo in the International film Sabine - The Movie written by Amazon bestselling American author Tom Anthony, to be directed by Grindhouse director Ian del Carmen.

http://facebook.com/SabineMovie

Unassuming Leon Miguel is quick to describe himself as an “underdog.” But this unsung actor is much in demand for international films.

He may not be a familiar name among Filipinos, but Miguel has appeared in American, Japanese, Italian, and British films, sharing the screen with the likes of David Hasselhoff (“Legacy”), Dean Cain (“Subject I Love You”), Hiroyuki Sanada (“Emergency Call”), and Satoshi Tsumabuki (“Pandemic: Kansen Retto”), among others.

Miguel’s star finally gets to shine in his latest film, Ron Morales’ “Graceland,” at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

In an interview with Inquirer Entertainment on the eve of his flight to the US, Miguel said that being invited to Tribeca is a “dream come true.” He is thankful to Morales, his Filipino-American director, for guiding him. “He is passionate and trusts his cast and crew completely,” Miguel said.

Tribeca is a fitting reward for Miguel, who has been acting since 1994, when he made his debut as a Katipunero in Lupita Aquino-Kashiwahara’s TV series “Bisperas ng Kasaysayan.”

Before show biz, he worked as a civil engineer. But after the acting bug bit, he was hooked. “I was aware of the sacrifices involved, but I was ready,” he said.

Being underrated can be “frustrating,” he admitted. Still, he has a positive take on his relative anonymity: “If I were popular, I wouldn’t be able to walk around and observe other people. I wouldn’t be able to talk to the fishball vendor and the tricycle driver.”

His interaction with ordinary folk, he explained, serves as research for his movie and TV roles. A graduate of the Actors Workshop Foundation, Miguel said that he strives constantly to achieve realism in his performances.

He is often cast as kidnapper (“Graceland’), gangster, thief, guerilla, rebel and murderer. He has played an Abu Sayyaf bandit a number of times, notably in Brillante Mendoza’s “Captive” and Sigfried Barros-Sanchez’s “Tsardyer.”

But Miguel is not worried about being typecast. “I make sure that even if I play a criminal, I still show the human side,” he said. “I want the audience to understand why a person turns to crime.”

In “Metro Manila,” which is directed by British director Sean Ellis (Oscar nominee for best short for “Cashback”), Miguel plays a bank robber and vicious killer. “One scene was repeated 50 times. (Lead star) John Arcilla was drained. Sean is meticulous,” he recounted.

Miguel has been in a number of international projects: portraying an Indonesian (“In the Name of the Queen”), a Vietnamese (“Behind Enemy Lines”), a Cambodian (“Legacy”), and a Thai (“Shattered Dreams”), among others.

He recently played a pre-Hispanic warrior in the GMA 7 primetime series “Amaya.” Miguel was the only actor who didn’t have to wear a wig, since he has long hair. He recounted that the show’s star, Marian Rivera, was a joy and gifted him with an organizer last Christmas.

Miguel generally has pleasant encounters with the big stars he has worked with. In “Legacy,” Hasselhoff “sang and danced with me between takes.”

In “Emergency Call,” Sanada—who also starred in “Ring” and “The Last Samurai”—was “intimidating at first, but friendly.”
In “Pandemic,” Miguel got carried away in a fight scene with Tsumabuki, a Japanese pop star who appeared in “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.” Said Miguel: “Satoshi’s handler told me to go easy because I might hurt the star, but Satoshi himself said that he was fine and that my intense acting helped him get into character.”
