Amani Wants to Fly is an uplifting true story based on a real-life pilot, JoAnna Marmon. As a young girl, Amani wants her swing to go higher and higher so she can fly. She loves watching planes take off. She loves to read any and everything about flying.
After a boy tells her that girls can’t be pilots, her father takes her to the library and they check out a book about Amelia Earhart. Amani is excited to see girls can fly and wants to be a pilot just like Amelia.

It’s Publication Day! Barry Mann’s Miri and her Drum Set: A Modern Hanukkah Miracle, with illustrations by Meira Ner-David, brings together the idea that people of different religions all share the basic values of good will, kindness, and generosity toward others.
Miri is excited that her grandfather, Sabi, as she calls him, is visiting all the way from Jerusalem for Hanukkah. They love playing music together—he on the accordion, and she on her drums of pots and pans.
Miri is captivated by Sabi teaching her about the miracle of Hanukkah and how to count the candles on the menorah in Hebrew. Her parents are so pleased, they offer to buy her a drum set as a Hanukkah present.
Miri and Sabi's trip to the mall to pick out the new drum set goes awry when Sabi can't remember where he parked his car. Luckily, a group of young people come to the rescue, and the trip becomes a celebration of shared values and vocabulary that unite people across religions and cultures.

In less than a year, we have two great Passover picture books from the Rabbi Writing Duo of Kerry Olitzki and Deborah Bodin Cohen.
Kalaniot recently published "An Invitation to Passover". Olitzky and Cohen have written an adorable book that not only celebrates a Jewish holiday and culture, but friendship as well. The multicultural seder demonstrates how all people are connected regardless of their background. Mariia Kolker’s delightful illustrations are full of charming details that the whole family will enjoy.
last July the two authors teamed up with artist Leah Tohoff to create a retelling of a feminist bible story that takes place during the Exodus. When the Jews reached Israel these orphaned sisters spoke up to demand a property of their own despite the laws that only males owned land.

When the Israelites reached Canaan, all male heads of family were to be allotted land. By law, if he were to die, then the first born son would inherit the land. But with no men in the family, the girls would not be given a parcel of land for a home of their own. These girls sought out Moses and convinced him to give them land even though they were female. This atypical bible story is a fine example of women's rights. It is a bible story that explores the concept of fair treatment to all. The characters were cute and clever and the illustrations were adorable. I recommend this story for any youngster."

"A few weeks back, a film crew met up at a ranch concert outside Cambria, CA to shoot a concert segment with a real audience, made up of members of the ranching community and fans from near and far. The script writer, director, film crew, and some of the actors, including the leading man, the charismatic and talented John Henry Richardson were all there to be part of the magic. Here is the website for the film. I have two songs in the film as part of the soundtrack--one of them is performed live, along with my speaking part in the film.
I'm very honored that the scriptwriter had attended my concert the prior summer at the Fiscalini Ranch, and wanted my music to play a part in the film. Claudia and Casey visited the Fairfield Civic Center Library on Saturday and, who did we find? Mychal Threets, the librarian whose upbeat, positive videos about kid books and kids in libraries have gone viral. Claudia actually squealed like a fan girl when she saw him.
I squealed today. I was checking out Tony Wade 's Book Signing at the Fairfield Civic Center Library! and I found this guy!! Yes! The very famous Librarian that does those awesome videos for kids and families - Mychal Threets . A shout out to our UK author Katherine Hetzel for inducing me to him. I kid you not...I live less than a mile from his library. "Squeal!"
