*मकर संक्रान्ति अब 15 जनवरी को क्यों हो रही है?*

वर्ष 2008 से 2080 तक मकर संक्राति 15 जनवरी को होगी।
विगत 72 वर्षों से (1935 से) प्रति वर्ष मकर संक्रांति 14 जनवरी को ही पड़ती रही है।

2081 से आगे 72 वर्षों तक अर्थात 2153 तक यह 16 जनवरी को रहेगी।

ज्ञातव्य रहे, कि *सूर्य के धनु राशि से मकर राशि में प्रवेश* (संक्रमण) का दिन मकर संक्रांति के रूप में जाना जाता है। इस दिवस से, मिथुन राशि तक में सूर्य के बने रहने पर सूर्य उत्तरायण का तथा कर्क से धनु राशि तक में सूर्य के बने रहने पर इसे दक्षिणायन का माना जाता है।

सूर्य का धनु से मकर राशि में संक्रमण प्रति वर्ष लगभग 20 मिनिट विलम्ब से होता है। स्थूल गणना के आधार पर तीन वर्षों में यह अंतर एक घंटे का तथा 72 वर्षो में पूरे 24 घंटे का हो जाता है।

*यही कारण है, कि अंग्रेजी तारीखों के मान से, मकर-संक्रांति का पर्व, 72 वषों के अंतराल के बाद एक तारीख आगे बढ़ता रहता है।*

विशेष:- यह धारणा पूर्णतः भ्रामक है, कि मकर संक्रांति का पर्व 14 जनवरी को आता है।
