Whale Cloth Press Whale Cloth Press started in Iowa City in 1974. Kim Merker generously allowed the use of the Windhover Press's Vandercook press.

First book was Kit Robinson's Chinatown of Cheyenne, hand-set, printed on Rives, hand-sewn, an edition of 100 copies.
