e try and explain why I do this. I spend a great portion of each day working with these images. I am either cleaning (repairing) images, on the phone buying collections across the country, doing image research, spending extended periods at The National Archives, or working on book projects that center around "rare images" from the early days of our manned space program. I have been working with these early period images for almost 50 years now. I know the subject well. Many people think all NASA images are online and available to all. I can say for sure that there are many background "NASA" images tucked away that I have spent considerable time and money accessing. Some are in The National Archives, and many are not. I am making an attempt at getting as much of this material scanned as possible. It is a labor of love that a good friend and I pursue daily. All that being said........the watermark is there to protect the investment I have made in the images. Yes most are NASA images, but you are seeing them because I spent my personal time and money to research and scan the images. It was my decision to share some of them with you for free. I started the "Retro Space Images" page many years ago. There are now over half a million followers to the site. Today there are dozens of similar sites, all looking for images to share. The watermark is there to help protect my investment.
