So this was the day I’d been waiting for, forrrrr….maybe forever ☺️
Spending time with wild gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. The trek was tough, and I felt a mixed bag of emotions before getting to the Sousa family.
But what a time, what an experience…and possibly the most chilled out family ever. We were only allowed an hour with them, and the illusion of time was never more evident. Time? What time? When you sit, and get immersed into their everyday world of simplicity, presence….and enoughness.
Without smart watches, when the hour was up, one of the silverbacks led the rest of the family into the undergrowth where they disappeared.
As I sat there, I realized how much time I’d spent striving for a perfection that didn’t exist. I’d built my life like a fortress, fine-tuned every detail, and hidden behind the walls of “not good enough.” But the gorillas taught me something I hadn’t let myself believe before: being seen – truly seen – has nothing to do with perfection. It’s about being real.
Watching them helped me begin to let go of the need to be polished and in control. The way they inhabit their space, unapologetically themselves, reminded me of how we’re all meant to be: natural, unfiltered, and alive.
We must give ourselves permission to embrace our voices, our presence, our humanity – not as something to perfect, but as something to celebrate

36 hours in Rwanda and I was already captivated.
A country where lush green hills roll endlessly into misty horizons and every corner reveals another breathtaking view.
The Genocide Museum was such a powerful reminder of how far this incredible nation has come.
@eagleviewlodge lived up to its name, with the warmest of welcomes, incredible team of staff and pets, and ginger tea!
I can’t wait to go back!
And this was just the beginning. Off to Akagera national park next for part two ❤️

What a start to 2025 with a bit of truth…
You are great.
Greatness is who you are, even if you’re not aware of it (because you’ve not learnt to be aware of it,) and so you base your worth on what you own, you do, your achievements etc.
anything outside of you…
But your core self, your highest self is greatness.
Imagine for a moment what you would do, how you would go about your day if you started from that place…of knowing, that whatever else is going on outside of you, that you are greatness at your very core.
This is not ego speak. And your unconscious mind will want you to not believe it by listing evidence to suggest that it’s not true.
How about starting the new year with saying that to yourself a few times every day. I AM GREAT. Notice how your thoughts and actions start to change.

Practicing peripheral vision helps you shift from tunnel vision to a more relaxed, expansive awareness, triggering your parasympathetic nervous system (responsible for rest and relaxation)
This simple practice allows your body to relax, your breath to slow, and your mind to feel calm.
By widening your gaze, you’re telling your nervous system it’s safe to rest and be present. Over time, it can build a more trusting relationship with your unconscious mind.
We only have to observe animals like deer, horses, and birds, who rely on peripheral vision for survival. Their ability to sense the environment beyond their immediate focus helps them stay alert, calm, and aware of potential threats without feeling overwhelmed.
Try it next time you’re feeling tense—pick a focus point, soften your gaze, and let the calm settle in.
