Submissions rolling in for the Avril Kinsey Classical Guitar Competition celebration. Final Deadline has been extended from the 7th to the 14 September midnight. Free entry into three categories: first up to Grade 5, then intermediate grades 6 and 7, and then advanced Grade 8 and beyond. Accepting worldwide and winner of each category will be featured on our websites and social media platforms along with their teachers names, where applicable. This is a celebration so free choice of piece not more than 5 mins and send via We Transfer to [email protected]. We are celebrating 22 years since the first Avril Kinsey Classical Guitar Competition, which was won by Derek Gripper - now an internationally renowned guitarist. We are offering an opportunity for three levels of video submissions to take place. One for advanced music grade 8 and higher students, one for intermediate music grade 6 to 7 and one for young guitarists from music grade 1 up to grade 5 level, with parents consent. What to submit? Your own choice solo guitar piece filmed in one sitting, not longer than 5 mins. The video recording should be sent via We Transfer to [email protected] with title and name and email address of candidate. The best 3 from each category, to be assessed by three top music adjudicators, will be featured on the Facebook website, the Avril Kinsey YouTube channel, as well as other social media websites. There is no entry fee, as it is a celebratory prestigious online event this year. Submissions are being accepted until 5pm on September the 7th, 2020. We look forward to receiving your submissions. The winner of the advanced category will be interviewed by Dr Avril Kinsey and featured in a live streamed event towards the end of this year.

CELEBRATING 22 YEARS - Since the first-ever AVRIL KINSEY CLASSICAL GUITAR COMPETITION. We invite classical guitarists, with a music grade 7 level or higher to submit a video recording ( MP4 ) of their own music choice, between 3 to 5 mins duration, unedited. Submitted with their name and email address, and if under 18, with the consent of an adult. Submit your video file with a copy of the score via We Transfer addressed to [email protected] The best three performances judged by Dr Avril Kinsey and her jury will be featured in a special video presentation to celebrate the 22 year anniversary since the founding of the Avril Kinsey Classical Guitar Competition. The winner of the very first AKCG competition was Derek Gripper - now an internationally successful artist. In place of the competition next year there will be a Guitar Orchestra Retreat to be held in Wales, UK between the 23 to 25 July. The closing date for this years video submissions is the 1st of September 2020. We look forward to receiving your submissions, which are open to anyone worldwide, as long as the music presented is a solo work of a grade 7 level or higher and is no longer than 7 minutes. As a celebration of this event there is no entry fee required. Thank you. The Artistic Director - Dr A Kinsey.
