by "Reception and its amazing . , . Photograph by Marcel . Considered the largest columnless hall in the world when built (2800m²), this space is delight to the senses. From the granite floor, marble walls, to the back fully open to 's gardens and the most beautiful staircase in the world, one may begin to understand why this is considered 's best work by many. The spacial flow is remarkable, and the details contribute to it - no handrails, and the parapets are so low both to remain unseen from ground floor and act as benches during receptions. The overall engineering stretch that allowed such a thin slab to span 30m is rather incredible, especially considering the added load of the staircase, detailed by Milton Ramos, a very talented contributor in this project. The solution to the problem was to anchor the top on beams that spread radially across the entire slab. And it all seems so effortless.... " via vía Instagram jpnoblejr http://ift.tt/1iCjMbg

Cláudio Santoro National , . Unidentified photographer. Though its construction started in 1960, it was only finalized over 20 year latter. A very large venue with three rooms, it contains a very interesting foyer disguised as a green-house with gardens by Roberto . Unfortunately in a state of denial by the authorities, its full cultural potential is far from being utilized. Though there are several other of 's designs in the Brazilian capital that deserve attention, we shall approach them latter - from this gorgeous theatre to the disappointment that is the Republicl Museum, though the Memorial among others, Brasília is a showcase of a large part of the 's work. vía Instagram oscarniemeyerworks http://ift.tt/1iCjMbg
