"Disco light" and other protection devices
In the early1980s, all existing Mi-24Vs and Mi-24Ds received the ASO-2V chaff/flare-dispenser units, used for protection against heat-seeking missiles; initially, six 32-round units were installed under the tail boom while the late production machines introduced ASO-2Vs in packs on the aft fuselage sides.
The L-116V-IIE Lipa Infrared (IR) 'disco-light' jammer was another example of newly-added equipment to protect the helicopter against heat-seeking missiles, installed aft of the main rotor hub. The third component of the suite of defensive aids against heat-seeking missiles comprised EVU IR radiation-suppression devices for the engines, which mix the exhaust gases. with cold air and were introduced in 1984.

Tupolev Tu-142
This is essentially the maritime patrol and anti submarine warfare variant of the Tu-95 (NATO Codename: Bear) bomber. The Indian Naval Air Arm was the only operator besides the USSR and present day Russia to operate the Tu-142. The last Indian Tu-142s were retired in 2017, replaced by the Boeing P-8 Poseidon.
Although the Poseidon has state of the art avionics and is well equipped for the 21st century, I personally believe that the four-engine Tu-142 is still a better aircraft due to its range, endurance and payload. I am sure that by upgrading the Tu-142, it will keep it in service well into this century but it is also worth knowing that the Tu-142 was introduced in 1972 and that the airframes are easily a few decades old.

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, variable-sweep wing aircraft. The F-14 was the United States Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense interceptor and tactical reconnaissance platform from 1974 to 2006. It later performed precision strike missions once it was integrated with the Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night LANTIRN system.
The F-14 was developed after the collapse of the F-111B project, and was the first of the American teen-series fighters which were designed incorporating the experience of air combat against MiGs during the Vietnam War.
