Rumi Center is happy to announce that we will be offering our Year to Live course again in 2024.
This year-long training program is based on the book A Year to Live by Stephen Levine, and is designed for people of all walks and stages of life. In community, we will focus on waking up and living more fully through the exploration of death as a spiritual practice.
When we first ran this course in 2021, we were all confronted with our mortality during the pandemic, and now these recent weeks have again confronted us all with death as we witness the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Palestine. The images have pierced through the veil of our largely death denying modern culture, and left many of us questioning the fragility of life.
During these unprecedented times, we look to the wisdom of the prophets and sages who recommend the use of remembrance of death, not to put us in a state of anxiety or morbidness, but as a contemplative practice to assist us in our journey to awaken to that which does not die but lives beyond the ephemeral nature of our lives in this world.
This program will be guided by esteemed teachers: Adeyinka Mendes, Micah Anderson, Tasnim McCormick Benhalim, and Baraka Blue and with guest teachers: Abdal Hakim Murad, Abdallah Rothman, Ieasha Prime, Vinny Ferraro and Sohaib Sultan (rA). More course details can be found at www.rumicenter.love
We extend an invitation to you to join us on this deep journey of exploration into the question, “what death can teach us about life and what life can teach us about death?”
