La 23 februarie 1455, Biblia lui Gutenberg ieșea de sub tipar, devenind astfel, prima carte din Europa produsă în masă.

📖 Cunoscută ca Biblia de 42 de rânduri, această lucrare însumează 2.500.000 de semne tipografice, având un total de 1.282 de pagini, în două volume, iar pentru tipărirea ei au fost necesare 290 de caractere tipografice gotice diferite, reproduse exact după scrisul de mână, lucrarea fiind multiplicată în 180 de exemplare, din care 135 au fost tipărite pe hârtie, iar restul, pe vellum.

📖 A apărut astfel, în Europa, o revoluție în tipărirea cărților, principalul avantaj perioada de realizare incomparabil mai scurtă faţă de orice procedeu cunoscut până la acel moment.
