We’re delighted to return to Mirage Photobook Fair — a space that always inspires connection, discovery and deep conversation around the photobook.

This year, we’re bringing a wide range of titles, including books never shown in Arles before. One of them — launching during this week — is a powerful and poetic reflection on the traces violence leaves in our lives. Rather than show war directly, it focuses on its psychological imprint, turning the book itself into a wounded body, pierced by a single, bullet-like hole.

Mirage Photobook Fair
📍 12 rue de Vernon
🗓️ July 8–12 | 🕑 2:00–9:00 PM

✍️ Several of our artists will be there to sign — check the full schedule below:
🗓 July 9, 3:00 PM – Karolina Spolniewski, HOTEL OF ETERNAL LIGHT
🗓 July 9, 5:00 PM – Michael Honegger Photography, THE NEED TO KNOW
🗓 July 10, 5:00 PM – Rebecca Topakian, DAME GULIZAR AND OTHER LOVE STORIES
🗓 July 10, 5:00 PM – Weronika Gęsicka, ENCYCLOPÆDIA
🗓 July 11, 2:00 PM – Nastasiia Leliuk & Natalia Wiernik, ONCE A YEAR THE STICK SHOOTS

❗️Please note: book signings take place separately at Librairie du Palais, just around the corner at 10 rue du Plan de la Cour.

🎉 All roads lead to Arles! We’re thrilled to return to Arles Books Fair during the opening week of the 56th edition of the Les Rencontres de la photographie, Arles! There’s nothing quite like the energy of Arles in July - and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on.

This year, we’re bringing a rich selection of titles, including 5️⃣ that have never been presented in Arles before. Among them is our brand-new release, launched especially for this occasion!

👉 ONCE A YEAR THE STICK SHOOTS by Nastasiia Leliuk & Natalia Wiernik is a hauntingly poetic reflection on war, memory and childhood, told through powerful imagery and a singular visual gesture: a bullet-like hole piercing the entire book, making it a wounded object - fragile, powerful, unforgettable. Branches or weapons? Childhood or war?

BLOW UP PRESS proudly presents ONCE A YEAR THE STICK SHOOTS — a powerful new photobook by Nastasiia Leliuk (Ukraine) and Natalia Wiernik (Poland). This striking collaboration explores how war infiltrates the imagination, language, and everyday life.

A branch becomes a gun. A child’s game carries the weight of trauma. A single bullet hole pierces through the book — a symbolic wound.

Set against stark black backgrounds, this work confronts violence, memory, and resilience. Not a document of war, but a protest in images. A manifesto of empathy.

📍Book premiere: Les Rencontres de la photographie, Arles 2025. Visit the BLOW UP PRESS table at the Arles Books Fair to be among the first to see it in person.

“In a world where every piece of information can be manipulated, and images can be generated just to fit some concrete narrative, ENCYCLOPÆDIA is a warning and invitation to reflect.”

Weronika Gęsicka’s latest book, ENCYCLOPÆDIA, reviewed by Dabrowski Michal for Culture.pl, is more than an artistic play with form — it’s a critical exploration of knowledge, fiction, and the fragile boundaries between them. A beautifully designed, thought-provoking journey into the absurd, the fabricated, and the eerily plausible. You’ll never look at any encyclopedia the same way again!

Rebecca Topakian’s DAME GULIZAR AND OTHER LOVE STORIES is a deeply personal exploration of identity, memory, and love across generations and borders. What begins with a photograph of her Armenian great-grandparents - Garabed and Gulizar - unfolds into a layered narrative about displacement, family myths, and cultural inheritance.

Winner of the 2021 BUP Book Award, the book weaves archive, fiction, and documentary to create a subtle, poetic portrait of what connects us to our roots - and what sometimes separates us.

Topakian will speak about the project during an online talk organised by Futures Photography & Magnum Photos.

🗓 25 June 2025, 6–7 PM (Paris time)

Our story

Established in 2012, BLOW UP PRESS is a boutique publishing house focused on contemporary photography. Our aim is to show unique photo/visual art projects in a form of book. At the beginning we were just online publisher but in 2016 we switched entirely to paper as the best and the only possible medium for photography. Our publications (books and magazine) follow the motto: WHEN THE STORY MATTERS. We don’t want to produce one-time-seen books. We want to create thoughts provoking art objects making people to return.
