I’m sorry to inform you that Chmcl Radio is on hold after today.

It’s simply because the work involved in complying with Live 365’s rules is way too time consuming. Some days I’m spending 4 to 5 hours editing shows to meet their requirements. And I don’t have that amount of time free each day.

It may return if I can find a workable solution, one where I don’t have to add every song title, artist, album title and exact time the song begins. This will mean paying for a whole year upfront, which I cannot afford to do at this present time.

So I’m extremely unhappy that it’s come to this as I was putting together some very good shows, but although I may look like an old wizard, I cannot perform miracles… yet

American rock band BoDeans are the "focus beam" artist on this week's Boppin' With Beth.

Hear about their awesome career, a couple of tunes from their discography and a solo song from Kurt Neumann. Plus, there's tracks from some of their influences and peers including Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, U2, Marshall Crenshaw and David Bowie. There might be a few interruptions this week on Chmcl Radio as we are taking in a stray mum cat and her 5 x 3 week old kittens, which have been living in a garden.

We’re looking after them for at least 7 to 10 days, and then they are off to a more permanent residence

So we’re having to re-arrange a couple of rooms as they need a secure room and we’re having to move around some of our 10 cats, who won’t be happy to lose their favourite sleeping spot.

If you didn’t know, we have 10 cats, 8 of which are rescues and they have their own page on Facebook, which we started after taking in Harley, almost one year ago

Schedule Changes
I'll be making a few changes throughout the week. The Daily Fix is to be replaced with The Power Hour, so at 12 noon, 6pm and midnight, Monday to Friday, you'll get one hour of great music, without any dj's. The shows will change constantly, so you'll never hear the same set in a 24 hour period

I'm going to be adding a Punk show each Wednesday. Punk AF, hosted by Paul Hammond, offers up 50 tracks a show, so you'll be blasted something rotten for over 2 hours each show

So Wednesday will now consist of DJ BAnn with The Banned Sessions followed by Punk AF

Fridays are now locked in for Classic Rock, plus music from the 60s, 70s and 80s and Sundays will consist of Country, World Music and Reggae

I'll be adding 2 Metal shows this week, both hosted by me... details on that tomorrow. But that's why I have to change The Daily Fix, so I can make 2 new shows

The station is still, quite obviously, a work in progress. I won’t take shows just to fill up space, I have to select shows that are well put together, contain great music etc… I don’t want 100 shows that every other station airs as well. And I’m not knocking syndicated shows, I‘ve made quite a few myself over the years and we host some very cool ones ourselves on the station.

But I love the concept of listening to World Music on a Sunday afternoon and then listening to Punk or Industrial on a Wednesday night… the one thing Chmcl Radio won’t be, is predictable.

So I’ll be tweaking things a little next week, I’ll also try and begin The Power Hour, just one hour of curated music… with the aim of blowing your socks off….
