Somebody stole 400,000 toothpicks worth about $3000 from a plant in Athens, Georgia. Police say there was no sign of forced entry into the toothpick manufacturing company – and they’re hoping for information to help them solve the case.
-Apparently they’ve already called in Rain Man to help them estimate the loss.

-You know….400,000 toothpicks missing…on National Corn on the Cob Day. I
don’t like where this is going.

MOCKINGBIRD LANE
NBC is creating a one-hour drama series based on the 60’s comedy The Munsters. The show’s called Mockingbird Lane – and they just announced the lead role of Herman Munster is going to Jerry O’Connell. The producers say the show is about a strange family to lives in a mystical, magical place…and is going to be like an American version of Harry Potter.
-All I can say is thank God Fred Gwynne is dead…because this would have killed him.

Waitress Gets Half-Million Dollar Refund
A Cleveland waitress says she was surprised when she received a tax refund for nearly half of $1 million. Virginia Hopkins, who has been working at Johnny’s Downtown Restaurant in Cleveland for 19 years, was expecting a refund of $754, but the check she received last week from the Internal Revenue Service was for $434,712. Hopkins said she decided to return the check to the Cleveland’s IRS office the next day. “Would you believe I had to give them a photo ID to prove it was me before I could give it back?” she says. “Otherwise they wouldn’t even talk to me.” After she proved her identity, the IRS people were very polite, Hopkins said. They took the check and promised to investigate the error.

Budweiser’s ‘Grow One. Save a Million’ Campaign/Need the water for beer.
Shave or save? That’s the question Budweiser is asking men across the country to consider each morning as they pick up their razors, for with every shave a man skips, he will save roughly five gallons of water. The initiative is part of Budweiser’s Grow One. Save a Million water conservation campaign leading up to World Environment Day on June 5th. For the second year in a row, actor Nick Offerman is serving as the campaign’s spokesperson, seizing the opportunity to make an impact with his beard. “Contrary to my usual philosophy, by doing nothing, you can actually do something,” says Offerman. “Put down your razor. Step away from the sink. And know that by shaving a few minutes from your morning routine, you’re also saving the planet.” Women can get involved by asking a guy to Grow One on their behalf. Both men and women can take additional pledges to shorten their showers and/or turn off the faucet while brushing their teeth. Consumers 21 and older can visit Budweiser’s page (www.facebook.com/Budweiser) to join Offerman in making a pledge and invite their friends to do the same. Participants can commit to a range of options, from a few days to multiple weeks, as well as upload photos of their stubble and full-grown beards to the Grow One Photo Booth.

Loretta Lynn 3 Years Older Than She Claimed
A dramatic element of Loretta Lynn’s autobiography has been called into question following a discovery by the Associated Press that the country legend is actually three years older than she had claimed. Lynn’s birth certificate, which the AP found on file at the state Office of Vital Statistics in Frankfort, Kentucky, shows that Lynn was born on April 14, 1932. The date on her marriage license is January 10, 1948. In her 1976 autobiography, “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” Lynn said that she was married at the age of 13 and a mother of four by the time she turned 18. The AP’s revelation would mean that she nearly 16 at the time – still young, but not a crime in Kentucky at the time, as marrying a girl under the age of 14 was. Her husband, Oliver “Mooney” Lynn, was 21. Lynn’s spokeswoman declined to comment, saying that Lynn had instructed her, “If anyone asks how old I am, tell them it’s none of their business!” Herman Webb, Lynn’s younger brother, said that there may have been a mix-up with his sister’s paperwork when she moved to Nashville to start her career in music. “Coal Miner’s Daughter” was the basis for the 1980 film of the same name, and will soon come to Broadway in a stage production starring Zooey Deschanel.

They’ve announced the pace car driver for this month’s Indianapolis 500. Celebrity chef Guy Fieri will be in a 2013 Chevy Corvette ZR1 to run the opening laps.
-And he’ll be eating a Triple-Cheeseburger while he’s doing it!!!

-I was just thinking…if I was driving 200 miles an hour…my hair would probably be standing up like that, too.

AVENGERS
The movie Avengers stayed on top of the box office for a second weekend in a row – and when you add worldwide sales, they’re already approaching the $1-billion dollar mark. The other anticipated opening this weekend was Johnny Depp’s Dark Shadows…which did a ‘disappointing’ $29-million.
-First off…Johnny Depp in crazy make-up….been there!!!

-‘Hey – let’s bring back a 1960’s soap opera…that fifteen people remember…and love.’

The Americans With Disabilities Act has now been expanded to include more disabilities – including ‘bashful bladder’. If the government enforces the rules, they say US companies may have to spend up to $4-billion dollars to install private restrooms for people who can’t go in a crowd. They say bashful bladder, also known as shy kidneys…or timid tinkles…
(okay – I made that last one up) – affects about 7% of the population – or 17-million Americans.
-Yeah – you go to a game and get behind the guy with bashful bladder between
innings…it’s like getting in the bank line behind the guy with a bag full of lose
change.

-Bashful Bladder is now a disability. Do we get to park closer to the Mall entrance??

-What I don’t get…is why – if they know 7% of the population has bashful kidney – why do older stadiums have urinal troughs? I want to do my business – not get in a chorus line!!!

George Lindsey Dies
George Lindsey, who spent nearly 30 years as Goober on “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Hee Haw,” has died. He was 83. Lindsay died in Nashville early yesterday after a brief illness. Lindsey played Goober on “The Andy Griffith Show” from 1964 to 1968, as well as its successor, “Mayberry RFD,” from 1968 to 1971. He played the same character on “Hee Haw” from 1971 until it went out of production in 1993. Lindsey had other roles during a long TV career. Earlier, he was often a “heavy” and once shot Matt Dillon on “Gunsmoke.” Other TV credits included roles on “M*A*S*H,” “The Wonderful World of Disney,” “CHIPs,” “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour,” “The Real McCoys,” “Rifleman,” “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour,” “Twilight Zone” and “Love American Style.” He had movie roles too, appearing in “Cannonball Run II” and “Take This Job and Shove It.” His voice was used in animated Walt Disney features including “The Aristocats,” “The Rescuers” and “Robin Hood.”

BOAR HUNTING
A guy in Florida took his girlfriend out for a day of wild boar hunting. He was in a blind when he heard what he thought was a wild pig in the brush. He shot it. It turned out to be his girlfriend who had left the blind. She was operated on for gunshot wounds to her legs.
-Okay – it’s bad enough you accidentally shot your girlfriend. Don’t think it’s going to make it any better when you explain you mistook her for a pig.

-Apparently by the time the EMS got there…he already had her legs tied together and was hoisting her over a tree limb.

The Earth –

Sorry Columbus – but the Earth isn’t really round. It’s flatter top to bottom then across the equator by about 45 miles. Technically – that makes our planet an ‘oblate spheroid.’
-Which would make for a great Monty Python Columbus sketch. ‘The world is not round – it’s an oblate spheroid’. “It is not.’

-So the earth is actually a little wider in the middle. Like most of us!!!

Hiking up a mountain on Earth Day? For every 980 feet you go up in altitude – the temperature drops 3 ½ degrees.
-Of course…you climb a thousand feet up a mountain…you’re not going to notice.
On account of you’ll be panting like a dog and sweating like a pig. So enjoy!!

TAX DAY
Taxes are due by midnight tonight. So how much do tax cheats cost the government? The IRS claims there’s about $385-billion dollars uncollected each year due to people not filing their taxes or underreporting their income. And they say that shortfall is made up by all the other taxpayers in the country. The IRS says more people than you think fudge a little on their numbers – because the prevailing thought is nobody wants to be the chump that pays the full amount owed.
-So taxpayers don’t want to be chumps. Hasn’t that train already left the station?

SECRET SERVICE
Have you been following this huge scandal involving the Secret Service? Apparently a Secret Service advance detail went to Colombia ahead of the President’s visit – and got caught up in a s*x scandal. Up to eleven agents were sent home – for having ho**ers in their rooms.
-And I think we all know who’s to blame for this – Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara.
Who doesn’t want a Colombian woman right now?

-Oh sure…you offer a suspect a private room for an invasive pat-down…and right
away people start gossiping….

-The secret service connection with ho**ers goes back to the Clinton years…when
they all made the traditional vow…to take one for the President.

-Here’s the part I don’t get…apparently this all came to light when an agent started
arguing with a ho**er over a $47 charge. Finally – a government worker trying to
save taxpayers’ money….and he’s the one that gets nailed!!!
