My grandmother owned CMD printing located in Downey CA. My father served as a Army reservist running printing presses during the Vietnam War and worked at C.M.D. Printing first as a pressman, then a stripper, cameraman, etcher and finally production manager. Some of my first memories were a ground level view of sheets of paper feeding into and out of printing presses. Under the eye of my father I
produced the first catalog for my company Fixehardware in 1993. In 1995 we printed the first of many catalogs for my company Climb-It Holds. In 2001 my friend Robert Miramontes asked if I was interested in helping him with a guidebook project. In 2003 I published my first guidebook, A Complete Bouldering Guide to Joshua Tree National Park authored by Robert. Daniels Publishing was a natural progression based on 25 years of climbing and the need for better guidebooks. Quality is our first priority; we do not place profit margins before our customers right to the best possible product. We use the best possible paper stock, binding techniques and materials in our guides. When we find a better material we will implement it into our product. Like the climbing I have done and the climbs I have established the way I do things is very important to me. I will never be the first or best but I will be “getting things done” well into the future. This philosophy has served me well as I enter my seventeenth year of business in the climbing industry. Daniels Publishing we recognize that each author and project is different. We currently have the best design team we could hope for and we work with printers in the US, Mexico, China, Korea and Canada. Our customer base and distribution system has been built over seventeen years through the sales of Fixehardware, Climb-It Holds, Cassin USA and K. Daniels Publishing. Guidebooks are more than PRETTY images. Before you jump in bed with a publisher stop, wipe the drool from your face and look past the images that make all of us want to climb. The advanced copies of Todd W Gordon's new guidebook just arrived! Thanks to all that helped Todd in this long process. FYI Todd and a slew of others worked extensively with the NPS on this project. The NPS had full review and ability to edit the book and DID so extensively !! The NPS hopes to spread out climbers, reduce impact , and introduce more TR sites. On Tuesday January 15 Kevin Daniels of K. Daniels Publishing,Trevor Anthes, and Kurt Wedberg climbed the Widow’s Tears in Yosemite Valley, the longest continuous ice climb in the contiguous 48 states.
