“The nafs aspires to lofty things and acts according to its understanding. All weaknesses of the nafs stem from two main things: frivolity and excessive desire. Frivolity comes from ignorance and excessive desire from greed. In its frivolity, the nafs is like an object rolling on a flat surface, constantly in motion due to its nature and circumstances. Its greed is like a moth drawn to the flame, heedless of the light that will kill it and unsatisfied with the light in its environment. These traits combine to produce impatience and a lack of perseverance.”

A believer may be subjected to the tyranny of the oppressor, may suffer injustice, may be wronged, or even expelled from their homeland. Still, they are never disgraced, despicable, or defeated. They can be killed and become martyrs. However, this does not signify their defeat or disgrace, for Allah has declared about them, "Do not say of those who are killed in the way of Allah, 'They are dead.' “We publish this magazine for the religion of Islam, for the education of the people, and to meet the needs of the dargahs. Sufis come; they need soup, bread, beds; these require resources. It's not possible without money; one must also work for the world, and money is needed for the continuation of service; hence, working in this manner is a righteous act. Otherwise, we do not need money. We have laid our wealth and our lives under the feet of the Sufis. The purpose of this exalted path is service. Ghawth-i Thani (quddisa sirruhu) held a boundless love for dervishes, treating them with utmost gentleness and compassion. He wished to be in their midst continually and to listen to their concerns. When he was ill, he said to the Sufis, who insisted on visiting him, "We were always with you as long as we could." Even during his final visit to Menzil, when Shaykh Sayyid Muhammed Fettah, aware of his yearning, asked if he felt at ease, he replied, "I cannot fully be at ease since I have not been able to join the dervishes, nor go to the mosque."

Shaykh Sayyid Abdülhakim el-Hüseyni (quddisa sirruhu) always ensured a circle of knowledge existed wherever he resided. He took an interest in the renovation and revival of many madrasas. Loving a murshid implies seeing them as the most capable and perfect guide of all. This perspective is not problematic by any stretch of the fiqh rules regarding this issue. Recognizing other murshids from different paths of tasawwuf within the Sunni tradition as capable doesn't detract from one's affection for one’s own murshid.

They have been commissioned through a genuine lineage connecting back to Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Under his guidance, they possess the knowledge of the path their predecessors once treaded, its milestones, and its pitfalls.
