I started SafeCODE4Heroes with two goals in mine. The first goal of offering a dynamic site packed with information about Veteran advocacy work, links and resources as well as story’s that is near and dear to me. The second goal is creating a SAFE re-entry program for our HEROES. We are bring this program to lobbyists and to the American people. Over 1 Billion children around the world experience child abuse each year; that’s over half of the world’s population of children. As someone who has personally experienced physical, sexual, verbal, and emotional abuse, I understand the profound impact it can have on a person's life. That’s why even years ago, I founded the organization "Safe Homes" with the goal of breaking the cycle of child abuse through: Stability, Alocation, Family and Education. Through partnerships with school systems, and lawmakers, we work to prevent future instances of abuse and promote positive change in child welfare laws. We also offer scholarships for survivors to access education and support their journey towards recovery. As Mrs. United USA, my vision is to expand Safe Homes to have a presence in every state across the country. Did you know a girls self esteem peaks at age 9? And When I was nine, I was bullied because I was very skinny, wore thick glasses and had a severe speech impediment. My Mother enrolled me into dance classes, a modeling / charm school and eventually Pageantry as a way to boost my confidence and self esteem. When I would be afraid to speak - She would always tell me, "talk about yourself because you KNOW who you are!" Fast forward 30 years, I am now a Certified Etiquette Trainer and because of my life lessons, I created S.K.Y. Simply Know Yourself. I work with children and teens not just as a trainer but as a mentor. I believe I have an assignment in my life to help young women feel loved, healed, and reminded of their purpose so they can find their voice and #speakout. I am convinced that when young women know who they are called to be they will feel empowered to rise up and share their testimony to help other women do the same. And when more VOICES are healed that’s how we change the world.
