This is your yearly reminder that October and November is baby copperhead snake season! If you are hiking or walking, be sure to look carefully where you step or place your hands. Baby copperheads are small and like to hang out in damp places like logs on the trail or flowerpots in your yard. Look for the yellow-green tail tips as an additional way to spot them. Let’s respect their boundaries and co-exist safely!

Amid a deadly E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounders, Burger King and Yum Brands are pulling fresh onions from some of their own locations.

Yum is yanking the topping from some KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell locations "out of an abundance of caution." Burger King said it has asked the 5% of its locations that received onions from a Taylor Farms Colorado facility to dispose of them two days ago.

The E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's has sickened at least 49 people in 10 states, killing one. https://cbsn.ws/40jCC6C

On Monday, October 21,2024, at approximately 6:62 pm, Deputies were dispatched to Doane Rd on a report of domestic violence involving a firearm. Upon arrival deputies were met by the victim who stated that her son had assaulted her and pointed a handgun to her head and made threats to kill her. The victim, another female, and a three month old child were able to exit the residence safely prior to deputies’ arrival. Deputies made contact with the suspect where he made threats to shoot law enforcement. At one point the deputies heard what they thought were gunshots coming from inside the residence. Deputies set up a perimeter and continued to speak with the suspect and shortly after 9:00 pm the suspect went silent and stopped all communications. Earlier, deputies had requested assistance from the SORT Team. Teams from the Sheriffs Office, White Pine PD, Jefferson City PD and the Sevierville Police Department responded to the scene.
Team operations began to deploy tear gas into the residence in an attempt to get the suspect to surrender, which became difficult because the suspect had barricaded the windows. Sevierville SWAT used a bearcat with an extended ram to breach the windows of the residence at which time team members deployed tear gas into the residence. Shortly after the gas was deployed, the suspect appeared at the back door and surrendered. He was taken into custody and transported to JMHER for evaluation. The suspect was identified as
Joshua Mumford, age 43, and he was charged with aggravated domestic assault and is currently being held in the Jefferson County Detention without bond.
