Weeks after wildfire smoke from
fires burning in Canada blanketed
much of the East Coast with hazy,
orange skies and unsafe air
quality, parts of the Midwest were
startled Tuesday as Chicago and
Detroit saw the worst air quality
in the world.
Thick smoke clogged the sky in
Chicago early Tuesday, with a gray
haze limiting visibility, and a
faint burning smell filled the air
as residents commuted to work. In
downtown Detroit, smoke could be
seen lingering over the skyline
and the National Weather Service
issued an air quality advisory for
the city until Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, more smoky air is
headed back New Yorkers' way. Gov.
Kathy Hochul warned air quality is
expected to reach unhealthy levels
in parts of western and central
New York and eastern Lake Ontario
on Wednesday and Thursday.
That means anyone in a sensitive
group – including young children,
older adults or those with heart
and lung disease – should stay
indoors for any physical activity,
and everyone else should limit the
amount of time they are active
outdoors.

Hamish Harding, a British
millionaire known for his
exploratory escapades across the
globe, is reportedly among five
people who went missing aboard a
tourist submersible visiting the
Titanic shipwreck.
Harding, chairman of Dubai-based
Action Aviations, boarded the
OceanGate Expeditions submersible
Sunday morning as part of a
$250,000 tourist venture to see
the historic wreck of the
ill-fated White Star ocean liner
off the Canadian coast.
"We started steaming from St.
Johns, Newfoundland, Canada
yesterday and are planning to
start dive operations around 4am
tomorrow morning. Until then we
have a lot of preparations and
briefings to do," Harding wrote in
an Instagram post before departure.
The vessel lost contact with OceanGate shortly afterward.
OceanGate advisor David Concannon
noted that the sub had likely used
about a third of its 96-hour
oxygen supply by Monday afternoon,
and told The Associated Press that
efforts to get a remotely-operated
vehicle to the site, about 12,500
feet beneath the Atlantic's
surface, would commence as soon as
possible.
Harding, 58, is renowned for his

circumnavigation of the Earth, an

Hero Intercontinental Cup 2023
The Intercontinental Cup is a
four-nation competition organised
by the All India Football
Federation (AIFF). It's not to be
confused with the now-defunct
tournament of the same name, which
was a precursor to the FIFA Club
World Cup.
The Hero Intercontinental Cup has
returned to entertain fans for the
first time since 2019 with six
group-stage matches in as many
days between four national teams.
Speaking before the start of the
tournament, India head coach Igor
Stimac said his side expected to
become champions.
Stimac warned that the games would
be a "great, great challenge",
while India captain Sunil Chhetri
spoke of the excitement among the
squad. That anticipation has only
been building throughout the week,
with India set to contest the
final.
India were the winners of the
inaugural tournament in Mumbai in
2018, beating Kenya in the final.
New Zealand finished third ahead
of Chinese Taipei.
India is again hosting the
competition in 2023, using

Round 1 of the 123rd edition, two

Rickie Fowler and Xander
Schauffele tore through Los
Angeles Country Club on Thursday,
turning the mysterious course's
first hosting of the U.S. Open
into a track meet. The two
combined for 18 birdies, 10 from
Fowler, en route to 8-under rounds.
For Fowler, his round serves as a
bit of redemption. Once ranked the
No. 4 player in the world, Fowler
has spent the past few years as a
backmarker. He hasn't won a
tournament in four years, his
world ranking plummeted all the
way down to 185, and he was so out
of contention he'd qualified for
only four majors since 2021. He
hadn't made it into the U.S. Open
field since 2020.
It has been a long road back for
Fowler — he has worked his way
back up to 45th in the world — and
while there are still 54 holes to
go, it has to be a boost in
confidence that, yes, he can still
compete against the best players
in the world.
The USGA doesn't like it when
players go low — par is the
preferred number — but LACC was
gettable Thursday. More than two
dozen players have rolled into red
numbers so far, with world No. 1
Scottie Scheffler sitting in
fourth place, at 3-under.
That's five strokes back of Fowler
and Schauffele, underscoring that

Cyclone Biparjoy: India, Pakistan evacuate more than 170,000
Gale force winds and heavy rains
are lashing coastal areas of
north-west India and southern
Pakistan as a fierce cyclone makes
landfall. More than 170,000 people
have been evacuated so far.
Forecasters have warned that
Cyclone Biparjoy - which means
"disaster" in Bengali - could
destroy homes and crops in its
path.The landfall process has
started and could go on till
midnight local time.
The cyclone is set to hit the
coast near the Jakhau port,
between Mandvi in Gujarat and Keti
Bandar in Pakistan's Sindh
province.Pakistan's disaster
management agency has warned of
storm surges as high as 3-4m
(10-13ft) along the coastline from
Karachi to Gujarat.
Alok Pandey, the official in
charge of relief operations in
Gujarat, said earlier on Thursday
that the cyclone's intensity had
reduced but that wind speeds were
still expected to be at "very
dangerous" levels of around
110-125 km/h at the time of
landfall.
The Indian armed forces and coast
guard have kept ships, helicopters
and aircraft on standby for rescue
and relief operations.
At least seven deaths were
reported amid heavy rains in India
this week. The victims included
two children crushed by a
collapsing wall, and a woman hit
by a falling tree while on a
motorbike, AFP news agency

Sonyeondan, turns 10 today, June
13. The supergroup made its debut
in 2013 as a rookie K-pop group
and over the last 10 years have
single-handedly united the world

have it easy but with the support
of ARMY (their loyal fan base),
the group created history and

Last year, the group, during their
annual FESTA, announced embarking
on Chapter 2 of their musical

they complete 10 years, the group

transition with military service

An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the
Richter scale jolted Delhi-NCR and
neighbouring areas on Tuesday.
According to officials, the
earthquake struck at 1.33 p.m. and
it originated near the remote
village of Gandoh Bhalessa in
Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district.

Centre for Seismology said in a
tweet.
"The epicentre of the earthquake

inside the earth's crust.
"Its coordinates are latitude

75.98 degrees east," officials
said here.Kashmir is located in a

region which is prone to

Donald Trump said Thursday that he
has been indicted on charges of
mishandling classified documents
at his Florida estate, igniting a
federal prosecution that is
arguably the most perilous of
multiple legal threats against the
former president as he seeks to
reclaim the White House.
The Justice Department did not
immediately publicly confirm the
indictment. But two people familiar with the
situation who were not authorized
to discuss it publicly said that
the indictment included seven
criminal counts.
One of those people said Trump’s
lawyers were contacted by
prosecutors shortly before he
announced on his Truth Social
platform that he had been
indicted. The PBS NewsHour
confirmed the indictment and that
Trump has been instructed to
appear in U.S. District Court in Miami at 3 p.m.
The indictment enmeshes the
Justice Department in the most
politically explosive prosecution
in its long history. Its first
case against a former president
upends a Republican presidential
primary that Trump is currently
dominating, and any felony charges
would raise the prospect of a

Though the bulk of the

handled in Washington, with a

Pat Robertson, the Christian
evangelist best known for his
political commentary on "The 700
Club" and a former presidential
candidate, has died. He was 93
years old.
Robertson died early Thursday at
his home in Virginia, according to
the TV network he founded, The
Christian Broadcasting Network.
"With great sadness, we announce
that Dr. M.G. 'Pat' Robertson has
gone home to be with his Lord and
Savior today," CBN said in a
statement. "Thank you for your
prayers for the Robertson family
and the ministry of CBN at this
time."
He was born in Virginia in 1930 to
Sen. A. Willis Robertson, and
became an ordained minister as a
Southern Baptist. Robertson's
birth name was Marion Gordon
Robertson, but he was given the
nickname "Pat" by his older
brother, Willis Robertson Jr.
Robertson provided political
commentary, from his Christian
viewpoint, weekly on "The 700
Club." He appeared on the show for
60 years, finally retiring at 91
years old and handing the reins
over to his son, Gordon.
He was also a decorated military
veteran, serving in the Marine
Corps during the Korean War.
In addition to his TV network, he
also started Regent University,
previously CBN University, a
private Christian university, in
1977 in Virginia Beach.
Robertson was married to his wife
Dede for 68 years before her death
in 2022. They have four children.

The PGA Tour, DP World Tour and
LIV Golf agreed to merge into a
single, for-profit entity, the
golf conglomerate announced
Tuesday.
The decision is likely to
transform the world of
professional golf given the stakes
and personalities involved.
The agreement puts an end to the
pending litigation between the
legacy tours and the Saudi-backed
LIV league that would have gone to
court in California next year, and
it caps off a saga that caused
turmoil in the sport for close to
two years.
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment
Fund -- which provided LIV with
enough money to make star players
massive guaranteed offers and pay
record tournament purses to lure
them away from the PGA Tour --
will make a capital investment
into the combined entity as part
of the agreement.
The tours also said in their joint
announcement that players who were
indefinitely suspended by the PGA
Tour or the DP World Tour for
playing in LIV events could have a
path to return, as the
organizations "will work
cooperatively and in good faith to
establish a fair and objective
process for any players who desire
to re-apply for membership" to the
legacy tours.
Animosity grew between the
factions, with Phil Mickelson
often speaking as the de facto
player leader for LIV and
directing accusations of collusion
at the PGA Tour and other
governing bodies, and McIlroy
fiercely defending the PGA Tour
and criticizing LIV frequently.
McIlroy had not yet commented on
the merger but was scheduled to
meet with the press on Wednesday
as the defending champion of the
Canadian Open.

The breakthrough design of Vision
Pro features an
ultra-high-resolution display

pixels across two displays, and
custom Apple silicon in a unique
dual-chip design to ensure every
experience feels like it’s taking
place in front of the user’s eyes
in real time.
As previously reported, the Vision
Pro is equipped with an external
battery pack, similar to how other
augmented-reality headsets, such
as NReal’s glasses and Magic
Leap’s headsets, have been
designed. This sometimes makes for
a clunkier experience overall, but
it means the headset is lighter.
The headset features 4K displays,
infrared cameras, and LED
illuminators. Company executives
also remarked many times that the
field of view isn’t limited, which
means it’s likely not using the
waveguide lens technology common
on other augmented-reality
headsets (which refract light and
cast virtual objects into the
wearer’s eyes.) It’s running on
Apple’s M2 chip, as well as a new,
mixed-reality-specific R1 chip.
