Threads is Instagram’s
microblogging platform which is
unabhashedly inspired by Twitter,
so much so, that it has been
dramatically monickered as the
“Twitter Killer.” As the pioneer
in the microblogging space,
Twitter has been dogged by
controversies, Meta hopes to cash
in on this opportunity to provide
an alternative that is “sanely
moderated.”

Described as a conversations app
by Instagram, users can create
text-based posts with up to 500
characters, as well as share
photos and videos up to five
minutes long. The app looks
relatively similar to Twitter,
featuring a minimal interface with
the options to like, comment,
repost, and share threads.

Since Threads is closely tied to
Instagram, users can log in with
their Instagram username and
easily follow the same people they
follow on the other platform.

Canadian wildfires are causing the worst air in the US in cities like Chicago and Detroit





Weeks after wildfire smoke from
fires burning in Canada blanketed
much of the East Coast with hazy,
orange skies and unsafe air
quality, parts of the Midwest were
startled Tuesday as Chicago and
Detroit saw the worst air quality
in the world.

Thick smoke clogged the sky in
Chicago early Tuesday, with a gray
haze limiting visibility, and a
faint burning smell filled the air
as residents commuted to work. In
downtown Detroit, smoke could be
seen lingering over the skyline
and the National Weather Service
issued an air quality advisory for
the city until Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, more smoky air is
headed back New Yorkers' way. Gov.
Kathy Hochul warned air quality is
expected to reach unhealthy levels
in parts of western and central
New York and eastern Lake Ontario
on Wednesday and Thursday.

That means anyone in a sensitive
group – including young children,
older adults or those with heart
and lung disease – should stay
indoors for any physical activity,
and everyone else should limit the
amount of time they are active
outdoors.

Ryan Mallett




Former NFL and Arkansas
quarterback Ryan Mallett was
pronounced dead at a hospital
after an apparent drowning off the
coast of Florida on Tuesday.
Mallett was 35.

Mallett recently had joined the
White Hall (Arkansas) High School
coaching staff last year as head
football coach.

Mallett played five seasons in the
NFL for the New England Patriots,
Houston Texans and Baltimore
Ravens. He became a household
college football name after two
stellar seasons at Arkansas.

"The New England Patriots are
deeply saddened to learn of the
sudden and unexpected passing of
former quarterback Ryan Mallett,"
the Patriots said in a statement.
"Our thoughts are with the Mallett
family, his former teammates and
all who are mourning his loss."

"Horrible news to read about Ryan
Mallett. Gone way too soon. Rest
in Peace brother," former Texans
defensive end J.J. Watt wrote on
Twitter.

Hamish Harding, a British
millionaire known for his
exploratory escapades across the
globe, is reportedly among five
people who went missing aboard a
tourist submersible visiting the
Titanic shipwreck.

Harding, chairman of Dubai-based
Action Aviations, boarded the
OceanGate Expeditions submersible
Sunday morning as part of a
$250,000 tourist venture to see
the historic wreck of the
ill-fated White Star ocean liner
off the Canadian coast.

"We started steaming from St.
Johns, Newfoundland, Canada
yesterday and are planning to
start dive operations around 4am
tomorrow morning. Until then we
have a lot of preparations and
briefings to do," Harding wrote in
an Instagram post before departure.

The vessel lost contact with OceanGate shortly afterward.
OceanGate advisor David Concannon
noted that the sub had likely used
about a third of its 96-hour
oxygen supply by Monday afternoon,
and told The Associated Press that
efforts to get a remotely-operated
vehicle to the site, about 12,500
feet beneath the Atlantic's
surface, would commence as soon as
possible.

Harding, 58, is renowned for his
lofty travel ambitions, with a
resume including a record-setting
circumnavigation of the Earth, an
Antarctic expedition with Apollo
11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and a
seat aboard the fifth human flight
of Blue Origin's New Shepard
rocket last year.

Tuesday.

The baby arrived in the early
hours of the morning at the newly
personalized wing of the Apollo
Hospital here. The birth was
announced by the hospital through
a medical bulletin. Both the baby
and mother are doing fine.

Megastar Chiranjeevi and the
family visited the couple early in
the morning to welcome the new
addition to their family. The
Konidela and Kamineni families are
elated at the baby’s arrival. Fans
across the globe have already
started celebrations.

Upasana was
admitted to the hospital for the
delivery on Monday. The couple
celebrated their 11th wedding

Hero Intercontinental Cup 2023
The Intercontinental Cup is a
four-nation competition organised
by the All India Football
Federation (AIFF). It's not to be
confused with the now-defunct
tournament of the same name, which
was a precursor to the FIFA Club
World Cup.

The Hero Intercontinental Cup has
returned to entertain fans for the
first time since 2019 with six
group-stage matches in as many
days between four national teams.

Speaking before the start of the
tournament, India head coach Igor
Stimac said his side expected to
become champions.

Stimac warned that the games would
be a "great, great challenge",
while India captain Sunil Chhetri
spoke of the excitement among the
squad. That anticipation has only
been building throughout the week,
with India set to contest the
final.

India were the winners of the
inaugural tournament in Mumbai in
2018, beating Kenya in the final.
New Zealand finished third ahead
of Chinese Taipei.

India is again hosting the
