PLAIST Festival 24 - A festival for current and future music
The 2-day PLAIST Festival, with its international and high-calibre line-up, sees itself as a space for artistic exchange in relation to process-oriented work. Interdisciplinary depth of focus is formulated through joint forethought for subsequent reflection. Approaches from different cultures, styles and procedures are negotiated and further developed. The themes of embodiment, framing, interpretation and articulation continue to take centre stage. The multifaceted programme will be made audible and tangible on both evenings in several concerts and performances in solo and small ensembles.

STEMESEDER - LILLINGER is an electro-acoustic field of tension. Floating freely and without genre designations, the producer duo inhabits myriad border regions of contemporary music, focusing on sonic,
compositional and thematic multidimensionality.
With ANTUMBRA, the award-winning artists continue to expand their body of work.
Procedural methods employed in their previous works PENUMBRA and UMBRA are revisited, newly assembled, integrated and expanded. Plucked, percussive and electronic instruments, references to sample
culture, serialism or folk musics, and the elaborate post-production work imbue ANTUMBRA with its enormous richness of color, sonic saturation and utopian vision.
To STEMESEDER - LILLINGER, ANTUMBRA (pre-shadow; from Latin ante, „before“, the region from which the occulting body appears entirely within the disc of the light source) is the realization of another visibility
of what has not yet been shown and seen.

The 3-day PLAIST Festival, with an international and top-class cast, sees itself as a space for artistic exchange in relation to process-oriented work. Interdisciplinary depth is formulated through joint preliminary thinking for subsequent reflection. Approaches from different cultures, styles and procedures are negotiated and thought through further. The themes of embodiment, framing, interpretation and articulation are central. The multifaceted program will be made audible and tangible in several concerts and performances each evening.
Christian Lillinger, percussionist, composer and label founder of PLAIST, as well as curator of the PLAIST Festival, is a guest at Villa Waldberta from July to the end of September in the artist-in-residence program of the City of Munich and is an artist of the "schwere reiter Residenz 2023".
