This year's categories include Short-Short, Short Film, and Ocean-Themed Short-Short.

All submissions due by Friday, January 13, 2023. Winners to be announced at the 2023 Writer's Symposium by the Sea on Monday, February 20, 2023.

In place of the Driftwood Awards Party that we were going to hold in the ARC, this Driftwood Celebration will be "open mic" style on Zoom.

Sign-up from 5:30-5:45 (sign-up via chat if you need to come in late!). All arts (written, visual, musical, theatrical, cinematic) are welcome, both work that was published in Driftwood and other creative work by PLNU students. Please keep your performance to 5 minutes or fewer so we can fit as many people as possible into the celebration.

Performances begin at 5:45 and go until 7:30ish. :)

Merry Christmas Eve! Today’s sneak peek is from “The First Book I Never Read” by Emilyn Giddings, a nonfiction piece about returning the last item from a bad breakup: his book she never read.

“I looked back at my little vintage car. It was my first car. That shantung yellow was a stock color for the 1973 VW bug. It’s the original paint job. I identified with that color most days, but today I felt more like the fender where a chunk of gray stood among the yellow where it didn’t belong. Or maybe the front of the hood: that muted yellow freckled with chips in the paint.”
