REV is full ‘S.T.E.A.M.’ Ahead on Girls In ICT Day
The REV team is in full preparation to celebrate International Girls in ICT Day created by ITU. REV is pleased to partner with URCA on this annual initiative which places a focus on promoting careers in the areas of information, communication and technology to young women as these industries have historically been dominated by men. This year’s theme is ‘Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead’ placing a laser focus on the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.
REV Senior Public Relations Coordinator, Davrielle Burrows said during a press conference, “Girls in ICT Day an exciting, impactful and educational event. It’s something that we eagerly anticipate every year. We have an incredible opportunity to inspire these young ladies and open their minds to a world of possibilities. We also have the privilege of challenging the idea that there is a specific type of brilliance that is unique to men which could not be farther from the truth.”
REV is offering its tangible support for the event in more ways than one. In addition to the cash sponsorship of more than $5,000 REV has also teamed up with one of its network partners, TV One to offer an inspirational session with a leading communications executive. Ms. Rori Peters, Senior Vice President of Content Distribution and Marketing at both TV One and Cleo will be joining the panel of featured speakers, sharing insights on her journey to success in ICT as a woman of color.
“At REV we are always careful not to simply spend our sponsorship dollars. We are confident that the money, time and effort invested in Girls in ICT Day is an investment in building a stronger, brighter Bahamas filled with women leading in every sphere of industry.”
Due to COVID restrictions the event will not be held in person as it has in previous years, but will take place via Zoom for the second consecutive year. Students, presenters and the various brands being represented are each eagerly looking forward to the event. Parents, teachers and students interested in participating can visit the URCA page on Facebook for further information.
