About the group : Hungarian dance group Csillagszemu is one of the most professional ensembles of Hungarian dance art. They regularly perform at the Star Gala of Hungarian Dance artists at the Hungarian State Opera House. They were awarded the Hungarian Heritage Award in 1998. In 2002, they performed in the European Parliament as representatives of Hungary.
They won the European Dance Award in 2003 and the Prima Primissima Award in 2006 as the only dance ensemble so far (awarded to outstanding Hungarian artists in several categories along with a prize of 50,000 EUR). The performers are senior and professional dancers having danced for 10-15 years with professional trainers. Their skill will speak for itself.

ABOUT THE ARTIST :
Sumithra Vasudev is a talented musician, prime disciple of legendary musician Sangita Kalanidhi Smt. R. Vedavalli, and has been in the field of performing of Carnatic Classical music for over 15 years. Sumithrais an A grade artiste of the All India Radio and performs music concerts regularly in Chennai, other places in India like Bangalore, Kerala, Mumbai and Delhi, and abroad. She participates in many of the well-known Carnatic music festivals like The December Music Season, Hindu’s November Fest, Aradhana festivals, Sangeet Pratibha organized by SangeetNatakAkademi and the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana, where she gives regular and thematic concerts.

While the boys were dribbling the football on the field, the girls alone were grooving to the Garba tunes.

In an effort to promote cultural dance, IB was transformed into a DJ floor, girls primped up and boogied down for “Garba night “.The beginning dandiya performance by 1st and 2nd yearites overwhelmed the audience’s expectations.The event went spectacular under the judgement of Mrs.A.K.Ray and Mrs.Maji who announced Vilochana Maheswari as’ Best dancer’,Mamta Meena as’ Ms.Garba ‘and Archna Gautam as’ Best matching’. The event began under the name of Garba night and ended up as DJ night leaving everyone dizzy.

We witnessed enchanting performances by both UG and M.tech students. Let it be dance, drama or music it was an enthralling event overall which everyone of us enjoyed. Independence day used to mean distribution of sweets, an over dramatic skit involving our nation leaders and half day at school.
As you grow older, and your critical thinking develops, you realize how empty the word 'independent' really is.
However, let's kill the cynicism and despair, act like children, high from the sugar rush, and revel in not being a colonized country anymore! And let's secretly pray that the days leading to the next August 15th see less of crimes against humanity, so we have a true reason for celebration.
