@yannisandtheyaw new song ‘Rain Can’t Reach Us’ out now! 🌳💧
.
About the track, Yannis says: “We actually referred to ‘Rain Can’t Reach Us’ as ‘The Tornado’ for a long time because it feels like a gale blowing through your house and it’s just cool to hear Tony at the heart of that. It was initially intended to be a Foals track, and if I had shared that loop with Jack and Jimmy that’s what it would’ve become. But sharing that idea with Tony made it become this other thing. I think that’s really exciting, it’s like putting in random coordinates, getting in your car and driving and not knowing where you’re going to show up. You could be led anywhere.”

🦷porij today announce their much-anticipated debut album, Teething, set for release April 26th on Play It Again Sam Records!
.
The 4-piece, who have carved a niche at the forefront of Queer-led dance-pop, also today announce a string of UK and US dates, including their biggest London headline show to date at Electric Ballroom. The new album is co-produced by the band and the legendary David Wrench (Frank Ocean, The xx, Young Fathers). With warm-up slots for Metronomy, Coldplay and Friendly Fires alongside their own crowd-igniting shows - Porij have been met with a landslide of attention at press and radio, lauded as “ones to watch” by tastemakers including The Guardian, NME and BBC 6 Music
.
Teething is an admission of vulnerability that is saved by its euphoric production which follows Egg faithfully like a spotlight, a companion in the dark. “In that time, I felt like I was really insular,” they reflect. “I was writing a lot of poetry day to day, and I’d just moved to a new flat. I knew we had this deadline, and I became slightly nocturnal, walking around at really odd times in the very early morning writing lyrics

@ynnsphilippakis is embarking on a new creative project @yannisandtheyaw kicking it off with a collaboration with @allencodrum Check out their first track, 'Walk Through Fire'!
.
In 2016, A mutual friend pitched Yannis the opportunity to work with Tony. And so Yannis, exhausted from months of touring and admittedly a little nervous at the opportunity of meeting someone he admired, headed to a studio in Paris. It turned out to be exactly how you’d imagine a Fela Kuti studio session to look like circa 1972: African percussion instruments and analogue equipment at every turn, the glare of wall-to-wall mirrors only glazed by the thick-fog of chain-smoking.
.
Yannis comments;
: “There was an imperative to finish it in a way that I had never felt with another record. There was a deep duty to do it, to finish it as well as possible, and to pay respect to him by getting it out there. Going through some of the drum takes was a moving experience because those recordings were some of the last pieces of music he ever worked on.
.
The lead track, ‘Walk Through Fire’, immediately establishes the project as a bridge between the duo’s two cultures: irresistible funk-fuelled grooves, but with muscular punch.

@chicanobatman release new single “live today”, new album notebook fantasy out this friday, March 29th through @atorecords.
.
born from a chord progression composed by carlos arévalo while practicing guitar and bolstered by lyrics and vocals from bardo, the album-opening “live today” emerges as an empowered meditation on cutting through the chaos and finding your own version of peace, building a gloriously bombastic mood with its slinky grooves and otherworldly synth.
.
About the track, Arévalo shares;
“When I brought this idea to the band, I was inspired to record a big and punchy song arrangement with minimal elements. How fat sounding could we get a completed track with a live band recording and playing their instruments in a room together at the same time, with minimal overdubs? Ol’ school, right?

Angus and Julia Stone release new single 'cape forestier' the second single and title track from forthcoming sixth studio album due for release 10th may via Play It Again Sam.
.
With its gentle guitar and beautifully delicate harmonies, ‘Cape Forestier’ comes paired with a video made up of unseen footage from when Angus and Julia first started making music together. It’s particularly fitting for such as personal track, as they explain:
.
"Cape Forestier is about a boat on a journey. I suppose it speaks to the journey we're all on in our lives—the comings and goings of love, loss, pain, and moving towards new horizons. We spent a lot of our childhood on and in the water. Elements of nature are lyrically and mythically important in our writing. The ebb and flow of tides, the changing cycles—nature so often helps us to understand our inner world.
.
Alongside announcing their new album last month, Angus & Julia Stone also revealed details of their forthcoming 2024 World Tour, featuring two dates in Carré Amsterdam on 11th & 12th of June'24.

something new is coming soon ~ @neomi.music
@neomi.music new single ‘Somebody’s daughter’ out now!!!
.
About the track, néomí said: “somebody’s daughter” was actually written in the same week as the single “your girl”. As I was still in that same mood (pained and angry by misunderstanding words by others) I was writing more and more while carrying these unknown feelings around.
.
To me “somebody’s daughter” feels quite heavy as the message is really: whatever a person does, don’t forget he or she will still be someone’s kid. Times can get rough, and being mad on one another is healthy, but to forget the humanity behind a face can feel a bit cruel. I felt left out by that time, by people I saw as family. I am not saying that was their fault, or even mine, it was a feeling that I carried inside and wrote about. The song developed itself by taking me on its own story.
.
All of a sudden I felt a bit more rage and anger for all the daughters (even boy, girl or non) that were mistreated on behaviour they were judged about. It is a sort of “cry for help” like hey, I am juggling through life too. Just like you and you and you, don’t forget I am still somebody’s daughter.
.
Why are we alive if you can’t make mistakes, and what did I do by loving them all that time and getting just a simple rejection in return. Somehow in that state I was in, it didn’t feel fair. As if they forgot I am still somebody’s daughter.

Banji new single 'Mannequin' out now!!
.
'Mannequin' is a song that's been laying around gathering dust for quite some time. It was left on the cutting room floor because it didn't seem to fit on Freshcakes. To me, the song is about
wanting to escape from daily repetitive routines, social situations, existential dread, and daytime TV. The idea that you'd rather escape your own body and be a mannequin, than dealing with these things we all deal with.
.
Some of the lyrics in the beginning of the song were directly inspired by a quick trip to the grocery store where I suddenly felt so out of place and invisible at the frozen
aisle. When I got home I started experimenting with some piano chords, and Mannequin was born.

The Slow Show releases new album ‘Subtle love’ by [PIAS]
.
‘Subtle Love’ was written and recorded during a week long residential session in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
.
It was produced at the same time by Belfast musician/producer Dan Bryne-McCullough and mixed in London by Dani Bennett Spragg. The song ‘Builder Boy’ had additional production from Belfast experimental folk artist and producer Joshua Burnside.
.
Subtle Love reconnected the band to the thing that, arguably, matters most in life: human connection. “I don't think we realised how important that human side of making something is. To be able to go and have a pint when you're struggling, or talk to each other, or just get some support. You know, some physical, human touch,” says Rob. Subtle Love has healed wounds, pieced the band back together, and made them stronger. “There was a real brotherhood around the record,” announces Rob. “It was a really precious time. It felt like we were kids again.”
.
Subtle Love - The album is an ode to Love, in all it’s complexity.

Weval release new EP ‘Dreaming’ out now on technicolour.
.
‘Dreaming’ follows their acclaimed album 'Remember', released earlier this year on Ninja Tune imprint Technicolour, and comes ahead of a line of North American and UK/EU live dates this fall. The EP opens up with the minimally ebullient title track, bubbling with vibrant melodies. Second is a spirited rework of “Are You Even Real” from their 2019 album ‘The Weight’, now titled “Are You Real”. Closing out the EP is the commanding “Unstoppable” which was made to heighten the energy during their live shows.
.
‘’During our last tour in the States, just a few months ago, we wrote the track Dreaming. Merijn can get a bit scared during heavy turbulence, so he tends to write melodies on his phone to divert his attention on something else. After he made the first idea (while probably experiencing turbulence) we challenged ourselves to keep this one light and simple. Usually we go way ‘deeper’ and re-write/re-record lots of elements. This one is meant to be minimal - sometimes less is more :). ‘’ - Weval
.
Shows in The Netherlands:
17-Nov: Oosterpoort - Groningen
19-Nov: Tivoli - Utrecht
25-Nov: Paradiso - Amsterdam
