Addi went into surgery at 4:00 this afternoon and made it through without any complications. The surgery was very risky in her critical condition but the doctors are pleased at how she did. They pulled over 700 cc’s of fluid off of her belly and inserted a drain tube to hopefully keep all of this fluid drained off. She is able to breath better without all of the fluid pressure although she’s still on the bi-pap ventilator. She’s not aware of very much right now but I pray she starts waking up more soon. Addi is in multi organ failure so we are praying that relieving some of the fluid building up in her body that this will help her organs to begin to heal and WORK. After further studies, although they have NEVER had a case of liver failure like this, the doctors now believe she does have VOD. She will begin meds for this as soon as she is stable enough and they get her blood counts stabilized. This is a risky treatment with a possibility of bleeding but necessary for Addi’s liver to hopefully repair and her survival. They’ve talked about a possible liver biopsy to see the extent of liver damage but not certain of that just yet.

Infection is a huge concern with this tube in her side and they have mentioned sepsis but we are just waiting on cultures. There’s definitely something going on with the high fevers she’s had so praying the strong antibiotics they are giving her will take care of whatever it is.

Please PRAY that her breathing will get better and she will not have to be intubated, no infection, organs begin to recover/work and the VOD meds work with no complications! Addi has a long road and continues to be in extremely critical condition but we are just happy she made it through today and feel blessed that she’s fighting so hard! She is the strongest little girl I’ve ever seen. Her doctor told me that we will take it hour by hour then day by day and that’s all we can do. Addi is our princess and she’s a warrior and we have all faith that God will help her little body continue to fight. There are not enough words to describe our gratitude for the thousands of prayers being said for Addi. We are so grateful. PLEASE continue to lift her up in prayer and believe in her complete healing with us. Much love....LaLa!
