Good Morning & Merry Christmas! 🎄

If you're dreading time around others today, I'd like to suggest a different approach.

Maintain two things today:
1) kindness and generosity
2) personal agency and boundaries

Drop everything else, including focusing on the things you can't have. Let other adults take care of themselves, they don't need you to think for them or help them have a good experience. Just gently and lovingly do whatever you want to do within the boundaries of what is possible. Just enjoy the moments - as you. Be really there for this time, in touch with yourself and your values - be who you are, don't be taken by who they might say/think you are.

The hardest part of having a guru, even an amazing guru, is that their thoughts, behaviors, actions and results are theirs.

That looks like: You have your own mental program as a result of your struggles, not repeating theirs.

Sometimes (less than ever) I eat even when I'm not hungry. I have a price for that:

I must answer the why questions before I eat each serving, and I require a page of notes explaining to myself in detail why I needed/wanted to eat when not hungry before I go to bed that day.

When considering eating or food is available/offered this week:

- Eat it if you are hungry and it sounds good.
- Stop when you've had enough.
- Say "no thank you" if you aren't hungry.
- No need to explain yourself, but if you must, you can just say, "I'm not hungry right now."

I still get dressed for a workout and go stand in the gym every morning.

Usually I do something once I get there. And it compounds.

If I just walk out and say not today, the habit of going is still reinforced.

Before you take the first bite, pause for 60 seconds and ask yourself 2 things:

Why am I eating?
Why am I eating this?

Take a note of the answers (like on paper).
Don't judge them; just note.
Watch yourself automatically change over time.

Catch it, check it, change it.

I heard this years ago from a therapist, been using it ever since.

Catch: Notice thought like "I can't do this."
Check: ask is that true? if not definitely true, change it
Change: "I'm doing this." (repeat 10x to give it hooks)
