On July 20, 2017, and I launched the first episode of this podcast with our interview with owner Trevor Larocque.

For three seasons and 77 episodes, we interviewed the best and brightest minds in music, art, fashion, tv/film, food and more.

After Jeff left the show in June 2019, I continued to do the podcast solo, occasionally enlisting the help of a guest host. I promised myself I would continue to keep TBM alive until circumstances prevented me from doing so.

Now, on its fifth anniversary it is with great sadness that, I am announcing that TBM is at the end of the road (cue the melodramatic monologue from Boyz's II Men's Mike Bass).

We've had an incredible five-year run and I'm proud of what Jeff and I have accomplished. I'm also eternally indebted to all our wonderful guests, co-hosts, event talent, and of course, our listeners, for joining us along for the ride.

I'll continue to run the TBM IG and TikTok accounts with music content, so this ain't exactly "goodbye": it's just more like "see you around".

Love y'all.

On S7E10, amanie // illfated and I talk to R&B artist Leila Dey about the allegorical nature of her new EP, how the passing of her younger sister impacted her approach to making music, and her adoration for Ms. Lauryn Hill.

Her latest project, MixTape, is a visceral one-person play that is "part memoir, part scientific inquiry, and part love song to listening."

About last night...

For the first time in possibly two decades, the was actually entertaining.

They focused on immersive performances (, , & , were among the highlights) while only giving out a handful of the key awards on air.

They profiled each of the "Record of the Year" nominees, which humanized the larger-than-life personas.

They also showcased music venues and their staff across the United States, emphasizing the importance of live music.

A huge congrats to for breaking the Grammys record for the most career wins by any singer, and Megan Thee Stallion for taking home a trio of awards.

Also, was robbed but we love her anyway.

Ten years ago, frontman Alex Turner released the Submarine soundtrack EP.

I wasn't a big Arctic Monkeys fan, save for a handful of songs, but I really dug Turner's acoustic folk-pop tunes.

Happy 89th birthday to Mr. !

It's rather fitting that his birthday falls on Grammy night this year, considering he's won 28 awards throughout his legendary career -- currently tied for the most wins of any living person.

In fact, half of those Grammys are directly for his work on four seminal albums: The Dude (3), Off The Wall (1), Thriller (8), and Bad (2).

Rest in Power, Lou Ottens, the inventor of the cassette tape.

I have always had a deep foundness for the cassette tape -- after all, I named my DJ name and podcast after the mixtape.

My love for the cassette/mixtape goes beyond nostalgia or practicality. I love that that it takes you on a epic journey that requires a bit of patience and a whole lot of trust.

Much like the pace of life, there are times when it lags. More often than not, it moves all too quickly. And sometimes, it unravels into a seemingly irreparable mess.

It's imperfect -- broken, even. But it's something that is undeniably rewarding in the end.

In honour of Internal Women's Day, I wanted to post 16 female music artists that I strongly revere.

From left to right, up to down, we have Fiona Apple, , , , , , , , , , , Liz Phair, , (Solange), , and .

I celebrate these women, as well as all women -- our mothers, wives, sisters, grandmothers, aunties -- around the world.

Two classic debut albums from a couple of indie pop/rock veterans celebrate two decades.

The first comes from Hometown Heroes 's fantastic 'Feels Good Lost'.

Written and recorded primarily by and (with guesting on some tracks), the largely instrumental album felt more like an extension of BSS predecessor, KC Accidental.

The next is Kings of Convenience's 'Quirt Is the New Loud', which ushered in the Norwegian duo's gorgeous Simon & Garfunkel-inspired folk-pop.

The duo took the album title to heart, and would often insist that the music venues at which they played discontinue bar service during the duration of their performance.

Everytime I read or watch a news story about a violent act against an Asian American or Canadian, particularly when the victim is a senior, I think of my mother, my aunt, my uncle, or a family friend.

It's absolutely heartbreaking, and it goes without saying that these things should never happen.

If you see or hear of any anti-Asian hate-crimes, whether it's physical or verbal, please speak up if it's safe to do so. If it isn't safe, I urge you to report it to the authorities.

This s**t is getting really tired.

Thirty years ago, we lost prolific French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg.

His multi-faceted music has gone on to influence bands like Portishead, Massive Attack, Tame Impala, and Beach House.

Several of his songs have been sampled by everyone from De La and the Wu, to Nas and Busta.

Rest in Power, Serge.
